I've just had a couple of tickets fall in my lap to the LSU-Alabama game Nov. 11th. After the LSU game we would like to stay a couple of nights in a nice motel near the French Quarter close to Bourbon street and maybe close to the trolley system....and of course need a good bar to watch Saints vs Pitt. that sunday.

I know their has been several good threads on this subject, but I have had trouble finding them.

I'ts been over 35 years since I have lived in N.O. and would appreciate any help. Also sorry if I have posted this in the wrong forum.

Wyndham at Canal Place would probably be a place you would like. It's also very close to the casino.

the riverfront. it is right in front of the riverwalk shopping center, which has the aquarium close by. It is a nice walk to bourbon though

Try the W, Hilton, Doubletree, Monteleone, or the Omni. Prices will vary at these places but you may be able to get a good deal and all of these places are in or on the outskirts of the French Quarter.

Any 3-4 star hotel downtown or in the French Quarter will be pretty nice and centrally located. Just look for the best price. I'm a big fan of the Drury Inn and Suites on Poydras. Its relatively new, great accomidations and price. Its going to be a couple more blocks away from everything than most of the hotels, but you really can't beat it.

BTW, we don't have trolleys. They are street cars.

I stayed at the Astor Crown Plaza for the Eagles game and will be staying there for the 49ers game also. A really nice hotel and is on the corner of canal and Bourbon.

I just stayed at the River Front for the Eagles game. Great place, if you're into gamming get a harrahs Comp card. I am by no means a high roller but have stopped at Harrahs every year I go to the dome. Since they started back up after Katrina they are sending out of towners 4 night's comp per month. I used it in October and using it again in December. After the home games they have a party from 4:00 to 6:00 at the casino. Alll you need to the free buffet and 4 beers is a game ticket. If you have a Harrahs comp card you are eligable for the drawings they have those 2 hours

The Ritz-Carlton on Canal is phenomenal for the price. Nothing better. It's not as expensive as you think and a very short walk to Bourbon St.

The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans looks forward to reopening this December, just in time for the holiday season!

Wyndham, It is fairly priced and nice. I like this one. I am a Sales Manager for a hospitality company with hotels throughout LA and I would stay there or any Hilton property.

I would also second that, Wyndam at canal place is the best, on canal in front of the french quarter and Harrahs casino in front, beside the aquarium of america and walking distance to great food, it's a good walk to the dome, I suggest a car, although my wife was shopping once and left me and I walked back, so it can be done. room service steak was awesome lobby is on the 11th floor above the parking garage and mall
