Would you trade up in the draft? (1 Viewer)

I would consider trading up for Miles if he isn't #1 overall. I would give up as much as that years second Rd to get Garret. I think that's a lot, but not making any crazy trades to get him.

No. Price will be too high. Too many needs. And come draft time, there will be a few teams that will like Alabama's Allen more. Garrett had games this year where he did not look special.

I would trade up for him - yeah. He's that good.

But (always a but) depends on where we pick. If we're somewhere around #15, then no, too far out of reach. But if we're in the top 10 to begin with, then yeah, I'd consider it.

Garret and Allen will go in the first 3 to 5 picks. If we're looking at DEs, we're looking at Barnett, Lawson, or Harris. I also like Walker from Florida St.

I don't see a reason to trade up this year. Nobody I like that much. Besides, we're a borderline top-10 pick as things stand right now.
Lawson jumps out to me for some reason. I definately do not want to trade up. Trading down would be more appealing, because we need depth AND we need to nail this draft. Multiple picks gives us a better chance of hitting. We need to hit on 5 to 6 players this draft.

I did a Fanspeak mock yesterday, and ended up doubling up on edge defenders with Demarcus Walker and Devonte Fields in the third and fourth rounds respectively. (Jabril Peppers fell to the 9th pick, and I took Kansas' guard Dan Feeney in the 2nd.)

Walker is a legit defensive end at nearly 280, and Fields is a hybrid type pass rush specialist at 240, and would really help shore up the pass rush.

While that particular scenario is probably unrealistic, some type of similar plan would be my preference.

Lawson is damn good - but will he hold up a full NFL season? He missed fifteen games over two years with those injuries. He's already had an ACL. With a track record like that, does he have the durability at the next level? That's the only question.

I want Garrett (hell everyone does). But he's almost certainly out of reach. If the Browns don't take him #1, then they're nuts. So realistically have to consider that second tier.

Lawson
Williams
Barnett
Harris
Smoot
McKinley
Anderson
Wise
Walker
Haynes
Lewis
Charlton

Just comes down to which board you use. I'm on that site daily, run probably about 25 simulations a day, if not more. Their new boards come out every Tuesday (today).

Some boards are pretty good. But none of them are right yet. For example:

1) Forrest Lamp and Deatrich Wise are always rated way too low.
2) McGlinchey is on the boards when he's stated repeatedly he's returning to school.

Etc.

Fun site though.

And this is why I'm perfectly fine with grabbing a 2 down DE in free agency. There are a MASSIVE number of really good pass rushers coming out this year.

As long as you take care of RG and OLB in free agency, you can target whichever of the guys you mentioned. Move up, move down, however you want to play it.

Sarcasm on - yes, because teams like NE and Pittsburg are consistently contending due to their strategy of trading up in the draft and giving away draft picks like candy at Halloween - Sarcasm off....

absolutely yes.

Myles Garrett may the best 43 DE prospect to come out, ever.

he is a must have, i really hope we trade up. I've wanted to draft this guy since he was a freshman. i'd give up anything to move up to that pick.

Since Jadeveon Clowney? Clearly likelihood is of a more successful career but that is with hindsight. Google Clowney draft prospect, people were saying he was the best 4-3 DE prospect in 20+ years (until the next guy 2 years later is the best prospect in 20+ years)

Don't knock Myles Garrett man. Saintsfannca is right.

This guy... Myles Garrett... he's a difference maker.
