Wow, was Fleener even worth it? (1 Viewer)

Fleener catches close to his body way too often. He lets the ball come to HIM. Any good TE, along with a large wingspan and big body for a receiver, should attack the ball in the air and away, gives them such a great advantage (when that situation allows). They can use their bodies to shield/box out the defender. He has the ball contested with each body catch with tighter coverage. JG did the same thing often and it drive me batty.

Seems like he doesn't know the play book. That was a knock on him going into free agency. He only played under one coordinator his entire nfl and college career.

Really disappointed in his play so far. He's just not making the catches you have to make in the NFL.

He doesn't look fluid, doesn't look crisp on routes, or seem to get separation. Catches cradling against his body and is prone to drops if coverage is tight.

Who looked at film on this guy?

He's terrible. He was terrible in the preseason, he was terrible in the first game and he was terrible today. He has awful hands and wants to body catch which will never work with Brees.

The lack of a TE passing threat hurts our running game and allows them to put more pressure on Brees.

Whoever is in charge of signing talent on this team needs to lose that authority. We need to find someone who is a much better judge of talent because at this point Fleener is looking like another candidate for dead money...
It's worse when the coached then try to force feed or will him to be part of the offense to he point you held back the entire unit for most of the 1st half.

At this point you give him a shot early and if he's rolling keep it going. But if he stumbles right out of the gate you can't trust him and need to stick with snead, cooks, thomas, ingram.

he is my only real disappointment
he was a marque signing and should be playing like that (as opposed to cadet or coleman)
he's playing very bad football

Not knowing the playbook doesnt make you drop balls that are placed directly in your palms by the most accurate QB in NFL history.

One of his drops you can see drew saying 'dammit Coby'....something you never see drew do out on the field

Have to check last week stats, but Drew is roughly 3 for 15 to fleener for 37 yards in two games

First series of the game, huge drop on 3rd down that would have gone for at least 20 to 25 yards....that failed series set the tone for the day
