The New Orleans Saints were without a handful of players for Friday night’s preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and superstars Drew Brees and Cam Jordan stayed on the sideline when the team hit the field for the first time.
Left guard Andrus Peat, wide receiver Keith Kirkwood, fullback Michael Burton, tight end Garrett Griffin, tight end Alizé Mack, offensive lineman Ethan Greenidge, defensive lineman Wes Horton, cornerback Marcus Sherels and cornerback T.J. Green were not observed on the field as the team went through pregame stretching.
The Saints dressed numerous offensive starters, including Brees, running back Alvin Kamara, wide receiver Michael Thomas and tight end Jared Cook, among others — but Brees stayed on the sideline when the offense took the field for the first time, clearing the way for Teddy Bridgewater to start. ...
