On Rotoworld:

Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes ran forty times of 4.41 and 4.41 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Rhodes is a bit of a size-speed athletic freak at 6-foot-2, 210 with low 4.4 wheels. Although there has been some discussion of Rhodes moving to safety, he's more likely to be drafted as a cornerback in a press-man coverage scheme. Rhodes has shown playmaking ability on the ball and possesses physical traits to develop into a legit No. 1 NFL corner. He's a surefire top-20 overall pick.

I'm liking Rhodes more and more, but only if all of the top pass rushers are off the board.

I'm really hoping we get this guy.

I want him and Trufant.

Heck, if I was GM, and Rhodes was on the board, I would draft him, wait till 20, and attempt to trade up offering up a 1st next year, a 5th next year and this year's 4th to get Trufant.

As we all can see, WRs are getting gigantic, yet the CB position has stayed small(er). In some ways it's understandable that a CB remain somewhat on the lighter size to maintain reaction time and agility whereas a WR doesn't need to be nearly as reactionary or agile.

Maybe now CBs will start getting bigger and he appears to be one of them. I'm quite impressed with his size, but I haven't seen enough of him to know what his potential could be.

Is he a man or zone kinda guy? Man only please.

With the little I saw of the combine today, Darius Slay of Miss State was impressive. He measured 6' 192. He seemed to have a knack for perfect timing on his leaps to meet the ball at its height. He also ran a 4.36. He could be a player to consider if he lasts to the 3rd or 4th.

No way would I trade a 1st next year (and it would not be enough to get to 20 with a 4th). It would take this year's 3rd, next year's 1st and probably another 3rd next year.

i'd still do it if it meant solidifying our starting corners for the next many years!

So Xavier Rhodes is a Malcolm Jenkins type prospect but with CB speed?

And what happens when, like a lot of our recent high draft picks, they aren't quite as good as we thought they were?

If we've learned anything, it is that all of these draft picks are crap-shoots.

No, we just need to stop giving away our future draft picks. It rarely works out the way that we imagined it would, and we find ourselves really wishing we had that extra draft pick when the following year comes around.

Don't you think we have traded away enough picks? I want a season where we have picks in rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 without having to trade away future picks.

i agree with some of you. WE NEED A FULL DRAFT FOR ONCE!

i would love rhodes at 15!

we need to figure out a way to stock pile picks like New England. that way we dont have to rely so much on one person to get it done we would have a lot more chances to hit it big than with only 5 picks or less like we have had in the past few years

The knock on MJ as a corner is his stiff hips [/pause]. If the reports are right, Rhodes is a prototype for the type of CB Rob Ryan would like to utilize.

San Francisco has 11 picks in this draft.....not to mention them shopping Alex Smith possibly for more. We can't speculate on who we will use our #1 on until out LT situation is cleared up. I want a Defensive starter just as bad as everyone here but we have to protect Drew first and foremost. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
