And Oklaoma ultimately doesn't lose, even though Lincoln Riley and his inane play-calling in a close, must-win game late in the 4th quarter and atrocious handling of Sooners defense since his arrival, tried very hard to make it occur anyway.



FWIW, that begs the larger question: Is Riley even that good of a HC or just an overrated former Sooners OC who got lucky in inheriting a great, highly talented CFB contender from Bob Stoops with most of his recruits and won with them but hasn't taken that next step in taking Oklahoma to the next level in winning a NC like Stoops hoped he would before retiring or what some OU boosters, AD, influential alumni, are hoping he still does.

Riley's record or accomplishments so far strikes me as being similar to Mark Richt, Jason Garrett-decent, good, maybe borderline great with superb talent, their decent recruiters, but they will always end up finishing in second place, that second-tier team that can win 10, 11 games and advance to their conference title games every 2-3 years or so or makes the postseason but always loses in the WC or Div round. If Riley was hired as next HC of let's say some mediocre ACC or Big Ten team like NC State or Purdue or Iowa and made to build them into competitors within 2-3 seasons, they'd probably fail.
