Have any of you been to Yankee Stadium? We'll be in New York and I'm toying with the idea of catching an afternoon game at Yankee Stadium since it will be demolished this offseason. I'm not a huge baseball fan, and I kinda hate the Yankees. They're playing the Devil Rays so it's not a great matchup. Is the stadium itself worth the trip?

Its not worth it. The seats are too close together, it smells, and it's full of Yankee fans. One...Two...Three strikes against Yankee Stadium.

We went on our honeymoon (yanks vs. red sox) and it was a great experience. No complaints. Make sure you take the subway up there with all the fans. It would be something you can tell your grandchildren one day that you saw a game in Yankee Stadium in its last season.

Yes, you should go before it is demolished after this year. Go and you will see why they need a new stadium. I was really disappointed in their beer selection too.

I hate the Yankees being an O's fan. But I'm going to make a trip up there this season to see a game before they demolish it. There is a lot of history with that place, I would say its definitely worth going.

Last year for Yankee Stadium, I'll go if I get the chance this summer. I've seen the Yankees play there twice and loved both times, even though it is a very old, antiquated stadium. I just liked the atmosphere, and the last time I saw a game there was 10 years ago. To go during that final season would have to be pretty cool.

yankee stadium is a great experience. monument park is great as is the beer and dogs (some of the best around). sitting in the bleachers is the best imo...

dont listen to folks that say no just because they hate the yanks. its a good experience and you will be glad you went...

Yankee Stadium is NOT Fenway. I went once and it was OK.

Ditto. I've been to a few games there, and now that I've been to a more "current" stadium in Minute Maid Park, it makes the experience even more meaningful. See as many of the old stadiums as you can before they're gone...they represent baseball before all the bells and whistles of the new stadiums were added. It's a much purer baseball experience, that's about the best way I can put it. And to see a place with the history of Yankee Stadium, especially in its final year, is a must, IMO.

Went to New York last year with my wife. One of the highlights was seeing Yankee Stadium. I wasn't a Yankee fan but my Dad grew up idolizing them. Pretty cool to see the place the Babe played. I wish I could get back there again this year but I don't have the time.

It's very much worth it if you want to see/feel all the history of that stadium and team. I despise the Yankees, but I go just to say that I have been. Kinda like a notch on the headboard.

Expect to eat a knish with mustard and have over priced beer. If you want any beer not made by Bud or Miller, you have to step outside the stadium (but still inside the gates) to an out of the way stand. Guinness and Sapporo are the ones I usually get there.

When is this game anyway?

I'd have to agree with everyone. I'm not a Yankees fan, but I do love baseball and the Yanks are a big part of its history. I went to a game last summer and had a blast. Well worth it imo.
