those seem to be huge deciding factors in the last 10-15 on the roster and helps highlight 6th WR vs 8th Db vs 6th LB battles

The way I've done this before is list the locks in one color and the battle spots in another. Gives a better picture of what to watch for in camp.

Anything behind CB3, WR3, RB2, TE2, S2,and LB3 is special teams.
