After the Texans' game last season, J.J. Watt said that the Saints need another person to protect Drew on the right side.

"You stink," Watt said during the video, then added "64 can't block me" after Watt implored an official to call holding on Strief.

If I had to wager a bet, I'd say that Watt's words (last season) lit a fire of recommitment under Zach's butt. The turnaround this season has been remarkable, and he's flat gettin' it done! He's playing so well that I feel he's worthy of consideration for a spot in the Pro Bowl.

Some of you may have a different opinion... and you're welcome to fire away.

:gosaints:

I have seen his stand ground like a concrete barrier on most all plays. He ain't soft as puddin pie this year! Love it and love him. Fantastic dude and I'll never forget everything he did for us.

The whole O-Line has been good this year they struggled a little against the best D-Lines in the NFL Kansas City and Seahawks to name a few but they still did enough to get the job done yes KC was a loss but it wasn't the O-line that doomed them. This is definitely one of the better offensive lines the Saints have had. That included Striefs up year this year.

We were so wrong about that unit going into the season. They've been rock solid and that is with Armstead missing a lot of playing time. Strief and Evans have been a wonderful surprise.

So your saying they shouldn't look for a guard and RT in FA and draft.
No disagreeing with you just asking?

Guard for SURE! Jahri Evans is almost done, and Lelito and Kelemete are backups. Invest in the interior line, and we'll be even better next year.

They should always be looking, but this year the line is holding its own despite being paper thin on the bench.

We?

Who's this "we"?

I never had any doubt we would have a good o-line. 10 straight seasons of good o-lines, and often with less talent than we currently have. I don't know why anybody thought that was suddenly going to just go away.

One of the weaker position groups of the pre season definitely became one of the top. Drew gets pressured, but its more than enough to get him going. Running game has been there but inconsistent at times.

I still find it hard to believe that Strief is having the best year of career in what might be the final year or 2. It's unlikely at the tackle position.... Makes me wonder how many about to retire veterans are hopping on the hgh band wagon for one last rodeo. I don't really see a down side for the 32+ year olds. A full offseason of hgh and you might feel like you're 25 again... the NFL can barely test for it....

There were rumors that Strief was hurt last year, certainly looking like that rumor has legs now.

He has been a very pleasant surprise this year as well as Peat and Evans.

I don't think Strief's improved play has much to do with JJ Watt. I think the difference is he's been healthy this season. Especially with Armstrong being mostly injured, Strief's consistency has been a godsend to the offense. Strief has been good, but I think Drew Brees makes all of our O linemen look better than they are b/c his release is so quick and moves so well in the pocket. We will need to draft a RT and a G, IMO, in the next draft b/c Strief and Jahri are nearing the end of their careers.
