It’s no secret that the New Orleans Saints have been competitive because of their experienced defense; having veterans who have been there, done that and continued to play at a Pro Bowl level past their athletic prime has made a real difference.

And they’re being acknowledged for it. Pro Football Focus ranked Saints linebacker Demario Davis and safety Tyrann Mathieu among the top 30 players over age 30. Here’s why PFF analyst John Kosko argues Davis is a top-15 player in the league, clocking in at No. 14:

All of the New Orleans Saints’ hopes hinge on Klint Kubiak getting their offense in shape after Pete Carmichael’s disappointing two-year run in relief of Sean Payton came to an end. Most of the starting lineup is returning from last season, and so are many depth players and established backups. If they’re going to reach the playoffs it’ll mean Kubiak got more out of those players than Carmichael did.

There have been a lot of changes this spring between free agency and the NFL draft, and the New Orleans Saints’ roster already looks much different going into 2024 than they did just a few months ago to close out 2023.

Right now, there are 91 players on the offseason roster — 90 of them under contract, including a roster exemption for Irish kicker Charlie Smyth, plus one unsigned draft pick in Kool-Aid McKinstry. So while the Saints will have to eventually cut down to just 53 players at the end of training camp (with some returning to fill out the 16-man practice squad), at the moment they’ve met their 91-man capacity.

Despite the New Orleans Saints being credited with the second-weakest strength of schedule for the 2024 season, they will face many of the top quarterbacks in the league. NEW ORLEANS — The Saints wrapped up the first week of OTA's, and so far new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and his staff have received rave reviews from the entire team. While the Saints learn a new offense, they must also figure out what their O-line will look like.

The two known commodities on the Saints offense line are guard Cesar Ruiz No. 51 and center Erik Mccoy No. 78. The other three spots are unknowns.
