The New Orleans Saints organization late Friday paid the state $11.4 million it owes for the team’s share of ongoing renovations to the Caesars Superdome, after two days of finger pointing between the Benson organization and the Superdome Commission over why the team wasn’t paying and who was at fault.

Businessman Shane Guidry, a top political advisor to Republican Gov. Jeff Landry, confirmed that the team made the payment, hours after Landry called Saints owner Gayle Benson Thursday to discuss the issue.

"I am certainly glad that they paid. The governor is glad they paid. We want them to stay in New Orleans and be part of the community," Guidry said. "But it has to be something that makes sense."

The dispute over payments toward the ongoing $500 million renovation of the 49-year-old stadium erupted Wednesday at a meeting of the Superdome Commission, when the agency accused the team of falling behind on its share of renovation payments and threatening progress on the project with the Super Bowl just eight months away. ...

Demario Davis, Tyrann Mathieu ranked among top 30 players over 30

It’s no secret that the New Orleans Saints have been competitive because of their experienced defense; having veterans who have been there, done that and continued to play at a Pro Bowl level past their athletic prime has made a real difference.

And they’re being acknowledged for it. Pro Football Focus ranked Saints linebacker Demario Davis and safety Tyrann Mathieu among the top 30 players over age 30. Here’s why PFF analyst John Kosko argues Davis is a top-15 player in the league, clocking in at No. 14:

Beyond PFF grades, Davis is the only linebacker in the NFL with 100-plus tackles...

ESPN projects 2024 stats for Saints players: Klint Kubiak's offense is a bust

All of the New Orleans Saints’ hopes hinge on Klint Kubiak getting their offense in shape after Pete Carmichael’s disappointing two-year run in relief of Sean Payton came to an end. Most of the starting lineup is returning from last season, and so are many depth players and established backups. If they’re going to reach the playoffs it’ll mean Kubiak got more out of those players than Carmichael did.

So this model is concerning. As he does every year after the NFL draft,

Taliese Fuaga has a marquee rookie showdown on the schedule in 2024

New Orleans Saints first round pick Taliese Fuaga already has a marquee matchup on the schedule in his rookie season. Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler picked the best rookie versus rookie matchups in 2024, and Fuaga’s Week 13 tilt against Los Angeles Rams defensive end Jared Verse made the cut. Here’s why Fowler has this game circled on his calendar:

Fuaga made his name in college from his matchups with Laiatu Latu, in his junior year and at the Senior Bowl. Latu was the first edge rusher picked in the NFL draft. Standout performances against a player like that tend to boost your draft...

In Week 3 of the 2024 season, All-Pro quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles come down to New Orleans for an early season test for the Saints.

The Eagles are coming into this season just as strongly as they were last year around this time. Many of their additions this past offseason were replacements for players they lost but most of them actually came as upgrades. During the course of the offseason some of the major losses that the Eagles dealt with were, LB/DE Hassan Reddick, RB DeAndre Swift and S Kevin Byard. The team was able to revamp these positions with younger and...

Saints' 91-man offseason roster by jersey number as OTAs get underway

There have been a lot of changes this spring between free agency and the NFL draft, and the New Orleans Saints’ roster already looks much different going into 2024 than they did just a few months ago to close out 2023.

Right now, there are 91 players on the offseason roster — 90 of them under contract, including a roster exemption for Irish kicker Charlie Smyth, plus one unsigned draft pick in Kool-Aid McKinstry. So while the Saints will have to eventually cut down to just 53 players at the end of training camp (with some returning to fill out the 16-man practice squad), at the moment they’ve met their 91-man capacity.

And here they all are, organized by jersey number, with organized team activities underway and spring practices picking up:

PFF says Saints free agent pickup Willie Gay is a bounce-back candidate in 2024

The New Orleans Saints can’t perform like they did last season and hope to get to the playoffs — repeating the same actions and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. And it’ll take greater efforts from everyone, coaches and players, to earn a playoff berth.

Most teams sign veteran free agents in hopes of them being an upgrade over players already on the roster, so it’s interesting to see one of the Saints’ first pickups characterized as a bounce-back candidate by Pro Football Focus. Linebacker Willie Gay inked a $3 million contract with the Saints earlier this...

Despite the New Orleans Saints being credited with the second-weakest strength of schedule for the 2024 season, they will face many of the top quarterbacks in the league. The Saints' defense will be challenged throughout the season by veteran quarterbacks with multiple Super Bowl wins and rookie quarterbacks making their first starts in the NFL.

The hardest game on the Saints’ schedule is by far their week five matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Saints will be marching into a Monday Night Football matchup with the defending Super Bowl champions in Arrowhead Stadium. On top of all...

Saints break in new offensive line at OTA's

NEW ORLEANS — The Saints wrapped up the first week of OTA's, and so far new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and his staff have received rave reviews from the entire team. While the Saints learn a new offense, they must also figure out what their O-line will look like.

The two known commodities on the Saints offense line are guard Cesar Ruiz No. 51 and center Erik Mccoy No. 78. The other three spots are unknowns.

Mccoy said he has to build off of last year and wants to be a constant encourager.

"Because we have a bunch of young guys, even though they are super talented, we have young...
