I’m inclined to think the Saints would ideally like to leave this draft w/ Bowers (1 Viewer)

I’m not convinced, that either are a preference w/ the 1st pick.

Hunter Renfrow and Andrus Peat are still sitting out there in FA. Coincidentally both could slot right in and give meaningful snaps on offense.

Both, IMHO could beat out any rookie available at 14.

Now, never mind the obvious, Bowers would give you a bit of both worlds. An extra blocker on the line in heavy TE sets and as an obvious Joker type receiver that can move all across the formation.

Aside from disagreeing that Peat would beat out any tackle we took at 14, I agree with your write up and would be very happy if Bowers fell to us. Our TE room is one of the poorest in the league imo.

I'll be happy with either Bowers, any of the top tackles or a top wideout, at 14.

I will be very interested to learn in two or three years when they talk about it, if Brock Bowers would’ve been the selection for the Saints if the Raiders hadn’t grabbed him first.

I agree that a stud right tackle for the next 10 years is important, but a generational talent at tight end would have been more of a team altering selection. If he only lasted one more pic, I think they Would have gone in a different direction.

I just hope it’s not going to be like the year we tried, but couldn’t quite trade high enough to get Patrick Mahomes

Why do people keep referring to Bowers as a generational talent. If he was, he wouldnt' have slipped out of the top 10. There were people arguing me down that he'd go damn near top 8.

I think Bowers was preference, I think he'll be exciting, but history is working against him. There just aren't many under 6'4 250 lb TE's that have made an impact in the NFL. Maybe he trailblazes, but the TE he was most compared to in George Kittle was found in the late rounds and took time to develop.

Because he is... and the only reason he landed outside of the top 10 is because half the league went on a QB bender...

You don't have to look at his size or RAS to know he's special.... All you have to do is to have watched SEC football for the last couple years.

And if you had a time machine... would you go back and daft Kittle or Kelce in the top 10? - Yeah you would...

Vegas "Mahommes'd" us... It's getting old... but time to move on, and see if we can completely luck out in round 2

LV Fuaga'd our plans
But Taliese rhymes with Khaleesi
So in the end we'll all be huge fans
Of the man who'll be our O line's Bresee.

Oline still needs help, average QB, below average head coach .... i could see why Saints are still at 7.5

We need point producers and playmakers, and an influx of youth and excitement in both regards.... Which have the potential to overcome the Average QB'ing and the Super Beta coaching of DA....

To me, a revamped Oline would cure a lot of the offensive woes of last year

It won't... It'll just give Carr more time to run the passive plays DA wants... and get closer FGs....

We need a combination of young gamebreakers, and Kubiak taking over the offense... If we go Oline and Dline with most of our picks and FA signings... It's more of the same from last year on deck.

Bowers may turn out to be a fine TE in the NFL, but I feel he would have been a "luxury pick" we can't afford at this point with our offensive line in the shape it is in right now......

If the Saints had Bowers rated similarly or even in the ballpark to Fuaga BPA wise, to me it's a no brainer.....

I confess I believe that OL is in a very general sense more important than WR/TE/RB (so-called skill player positions) because you can have good players at all those positions but if the QB doesn't have time to throw.....moot.....

Also, so many of those players you can quality later in the draft, even UDFA's......one can argue the inverse but it just seems that way to me.....

More of the same would be the NFL touchdown leader from 2 years ago averaging 2.9ypc and getting his first TD the literal last play of the season.

The ability to run the ball and keep your QB upright is the absolute foundation of an offense. No matter how creative or nasty you want to be if you don't have a good Oline you will not win in the NFL
