With the current Injuries, we should temper our Superbowl expectations and just enjoy the rest of the season. (1 Viewer)

We just lost to the #1 seed in the NFC on the last play of the game

I see no reason why we don't have a chance in the playoffs. We are in the conversation and that's all you can ask for. 13-3 and #1 seed didn't get us to the Super Bowl last year (I know there were other factors), but the point is, once the tournament starts, everyone is 0-0. Maybe we get some lucky breaks for a change in the playoffs. Maybe we see vintage Drew like this past weekend for 3 games in a row. All I know is if Joe Flacco did it in 2012, Brees can do it in 2019

Anybody think a 49ers fan is on their board supplying built-in excuses about injuries after they lost their Star center for the season and potentially two of their key defensive players for an extended amount of time? Rhetorical.

We are 10-3. Been a fantastic rollercoaster season. Just like the last two seasons prior, we are being hit with season ending injuries at tail end of our season.

No matter what happens, be grateful and proud of our young men. Only one team can win it all.

The days of us being a 3,4, 5 win team maybe be long behind us, but we should never act like a spoiled fanbase. This year should never be called a waste if we can't win it all. Drew Brees gets to end the year a record holding GOAT. It's been a blast and the team is so young that we got a lot of great years ahead of us.

Let's finish the year off strong and so if we can get the lucky bounce in the playoffs that we've haven't seen since 2009.
I understand what you are saying. I followed the Saints since 1969. I lived through the years where expectations were low. It was unreasonable to think were could make the playoffs, let alone win a superbowl.

That said, I think lowering our expectations would be a mistake. If you lower expectations, you unknowingly achieve lower goals.

The John Mecham years and the Tom Benson years had one thing in common, the goal of a superbowl win.

I realize we are spoiled now. It's just that I think we should say, "Don't be as disappointed if we fail to achieve our goal." Put it in proper focus.

Season was a success in my opinion. Yea, we may be one and done in playoffs, but this was a year of resiliency with a team battling injuries and bad officiating. There is no excuses....every team gets hit with an injury bug or more...just as the eagles.......Sf looks like the best of the league right now. If we make it to the finals...I'll enjoy every minute win or lose.......

I am tempering my expectations as well. I am just going to chill out about winning a SB trophy and just let it play out without any stress. If it happens well that will be awesome, if it don't, I am ok with that as well.

Just remember the talk when Drew went down. I’m sorry but Davenport is no where near important as was losing your hall of fame QB. In this case the offense may need to pick it up more as did the defense when Drew went down.

I was pretty optimistic this summer when I bought my wife and I futures bets that the Saints would win the Super Bowl. I am not going to let that positive outlook fade out until someone puts us out.

I am so proud of the offense in the San Fran game. SF has great players at WR, RB, QB, and TE. Us at QB and WR only. We were outgunned and we still almost won the game. Wish I could say the same thing about the defense!

Have to agree with the OP. Next man up stuff is a myth.
It easier said than done. There is a reason why certain players are the starters and others are role/backup players. Anyone saying.the loss of a starter can be overcome, is kidding themselves. While there are adequate role/backup players to fill in, what players will backup the backups? Get my drift? It becomes a matter of players getting tired and more succeptible to an injury.

At the beginning of the season I never believed they make it to the SB. Once I saw the D dominating early in the season without Brees, I changed my mind, and started to believe that a SB appearance was a strong possibility. But since Brees came back, the Saints D tanked out, and now I'm pretty much back where I started.....we're one and done in the playoffs.....this D is hellbent not to allow the Saints O any chance in the playoffs. they will make sure they break the back of the Saints O, and giving up another 45+ points is a very likely bow out in the playoffs.

I did all my hair pulling and remote throwing last week, so I'm done. Win or lose, I'll keep the same face like the guy in the commercial.

It will be interesting to watch how Payton handles this injury situation. We're really behind the 8 ball, and I'm wondering if he will call the games as usual, or with a hint of desperation.

What’s the point of being a fan then? I think we’ve got a great chance to win the Super Bowl and my expectations are high.
