College Crazy off season thread.

I'm trying to make sense of this.

It can't really be a power move to get more money, the money just isn't there.
UNLV's selling point is it is in Nevada with no college competition and close to the fertile recruiting grounds of LA with the new Raiders stadium going up. Problem with that is the fertile recruiting grounds of LA are being picked apart by teams all over the country, mainly kids wanting to go to the SEC and all the California schools. Nevada turns out some of the fewest number of NFL athletes of any state in the country. UNLV gets almost no tv exposure and that wont change anytime soon given their location.

I'd take UNLV over bottom tier SEC jobs but it's no like he couldn't wait a bit and go for a big time ACC school next year and play with the big fish in only a slightly larger pond with a chance to actually do something.

If he does take the job, does he at least hang around to play for the National Championship without distraction? I mean, a lot of guys on defense decided to stay around this year instead of leave early for the draft. You would think he would give that courtesy back to the players. If he does take the job and bails before the NCG then he isn't only burning a bridge he's blowing it up and the roads on either side of the bridge.

If he does leave, don't be surprised to see LSU go after Jim Leonard and dip from the Wisconsin well again. Also, Jack Del Rio isn't coaching right now.

I don't blame Aranda one bit if he tries to better his career but I sure hope for his sake he goes after something that is indeed better and if he leaves he better do it the right way or he'll never be forgiven in LSU country.
I was just thinking about Jack del Rio. That guy is one hell of a DC, and he wasn’t a bad HC either (though he never won much because of the time he coached in). If Aranda were to leave I would be excited to see if JdR came to the red stick.
