You Gotta Help Me - Why Isn't Teddy Our Starting QB after Brees?

I am going to get some of this wrong, but it should all be in the same zip code. You guys and ladies need to help me.

- Teddy came out early and young
- 1st year he put up pretty solid numbers for a rookie
- 2nd year he puts up good numbers playing in the most conservative offense in the NFL and leads them to the playoffs at age 22. At such a young age, he clearly proved he had already become the well-repsected leader by his players - a rare trait so young
- As a young QB, he didn't have hardly any decent QB coaching or QB development at Minny. Minny did not know offense back then, but conservative game management dictated by the coaches. Hand the ball off and only pass when necessary and win with defense and special teams.
- 3rd year Teddy endures a devastating injury and sits the entire year after 1st game
- 4th year he sits on the Saints bench and only plays one game as mop-up with the scrubs
- 5th year he takes over after Brees injury and leads the team to 5-0 with a tough schedule. The Seattle game was his 1st meaningful game as a starter is almost 3-years

1) He's still quite young at age 27.
2) The team as a whole played better under Teddy than Brees. The defense played it's best ball since the Dome Patrol under Teddy. His teammates love him
3) He is smart and very coachable
4) He has a good enough arm to make all the throws in the NFL with decent, albeit not great, mobility

He's only played about 2.5 years starting. Why do we doubt that under the offensive genius of SP, after 2-years studying under the master Brees, not think this young kid will continue to improve significantly. In the wrong system, Teddy will be average. In SP's system with SP and Carmichael coaching, why do we think he can't be a Top 10 QB?

Please understand, I loveeeeee Taysom Hill. He is my favorite player in the league and I'll buy his jersey as soon as we re-sign him this year. But as a full-time QB, Taysom was very injury prone and he is totally unproven as a full-time QB.

Please help me understand what I am missing about Teddy! - Thx much all!

Many (including me) think Teddy would be the best choice.
Many want to see Taysom take over.
Then there is drafting a QB. I'd like to see that regardless and use whichever vet as a bridge.

Pretty much everyone agrees we can't sign Teddy, Brees and Taysom though. No team can expect to handle the contracts of two starting QBs and a backup. Brees' contract knocks Teddy out the door.

There is a slim chance we get them all back but it's unlikely. The best you should hope for is that Teddy signs as a starter in the AFC and we get a compensatory pick.

If Drew does decide to retire that all changes. Then you probably get to see the Teddy vs Taysom debates rage on.
