I am going to get some of this wrong, but it should all be in the same zip code. You guys and ladies need to help me.

- Teddy came out early and young
- 1st year he put up pretty solid numbers for a rookie
- 2nd year he puts up good numbers playing in the most conservative offense in the NFL and leads them to the playoffs at age 22. At such a young age, he clearly proved he had already become the well-repsected leader by his players - a rare trait so young
- As a young QB, he didn't have hardly any decent QB coaching or QB development at Minny. Minny did not know offense back then, but conservative game management dictated by the coaches. Hand the ball off and only pass when necessary and win with defense and special teams.
- 3rd year Teddy endures a devastating injury and sits the entire year after 1st game
- 4th year he sits on the Saints bench and only plays one game as mop-up with the scrubs
- 5th year he takes over after Brees injury and leads the team to 5-0 with a tough schedule. The Seattle game was his 1st meaningful game as a starter is almost 3-years

1) He's still quite young at age 27.
2) The team as a whole played better under Teddy than Brees. The defense played it's best ball since the Dome Patrol under Teddy. His teammates love him
3) He is smart and very coachable
4) He has a good enough arm to make all the throws in the NFL with decent, albeit not great, mobility

He's only played about 2.5 years starting. Why do we doubt that under the offensive genius of SP, after 2-years studying under the master Brees, not think this young kid will continue to improve significantly. In the wrong system, Teddy will be average. In SP's system with SP and Carmichael coaching, why do we think he can't be a Top 10 QB?

Please understand, I loveeeeee Taysom Hill. He is my favorite player in the league and I'll buy his jersey as soon as we re-sign him this year. But as a full-time QB, Taysom was very injury prone and he is totally unproven as a full-time QB.

Please help me understand what I am missing about Teddy! - Thx much all!

I agree 100% but it all comes down to the $$. Honestly I believe that if Brees were to hang it up SP and Loomis would keep Teddy and he'd be the starter, but we all know Brees is coming back.

1) If Brees comes back, we can't afford Teddy, regardless what we do with Taysom.

2) Taysom is fun to watch, win or lose (at least he will be for 3 or 4 games until losing gets old)

3) Teddy is boring. The defense did not play better because Teddy inspired them with his leadership. The defense played better because Teddy is no Drew Brees and they knew they had to play better to have a chance to win. Also, turns out only Seattle was a good team in that stretch.

4) Brees came back and played great vs Arizona, so the whole team went to sleep vs Atlanta figuring Brees got it. Same for Minnesota, Brees lit up Carolina so the rest of the team figured he had it in the bag (including Payton).

5) What was I talking about again?

6) We probably can't afford Teddy even if Brees doesn't come back.

7) Teddy will be in the SuperBowl with the Patriots next year anyway.

8) Joe Freakin Burreaux

You may want to wait at least a year to buy that Taysom jersey. If Drew comes back, Taysom certainly isn't getting a long term QB contract this year. It's clear from his interviews he wants to be a starting quarterback so he isn't going to sign to be a long-term gadget player. He'll play under a tender and then next year he'll either be a full-time QB here or somewhere else.

Exactly. So, Teddy needs to decide if he wants to take a cheap deal and be the backup again, or go get paid elsewhere.

Teddy is good but not great. If Brees does not come back then we should draft a new quarterback for the future. Note how many teams are doing very well with quarterbacks on rookie deals.

Teddy is a good QB probably would get the Saints to the Playoffs a few times if he were to become the next franchise QB. I don't however see him having much success in the playoffs. He isn't a Q.B that can put on offense on his back. He won't lose you a game but I don't see him winning many either. Against that Minny Defense Bridgewater would of gotten killed.

Many (including me) think Teddy would be the best choice.
Many want to see Taysom take over.
Then there is drafting a QB. I'd like to see that regardless and use whichever vet as a bridge.

Pretty much everyone agrees we can't sign Teddy, Brees and Taysom though. No team can expect to handle the contracts of two starting QBs and a backup. Brees' contract knocks Teddy out the door.

There is a slim chance we get them all back but it's unlikely. The best you should hope for is that Teddy signs as a starter in the AFC and we get a compensatory pick.

If Drew does decide to retire that all changes. Then you probably get to see the Teddy vs Taysom debates rage on.

Yep and he gets paid the big bucks to be in the mix. I just have a funny feeling though.

I don't even think it's possible. If Drew retires he has what 21 mil dead money? Teddy would want at least 15mil to be a starter...At least that's what he was rumored to have asked Miami for last year....maybe he wants 20 now. We tender Taysom at 4.5mil. That's over 40mil spent on two QBs. If Drew retires I think we're going with Taysom in the short term and maybe drafting a QB for the long-term.

Personally we dont have the defense to win it all with Teddy, Teddy is a solid QB but he want be the #1 focus of an offense in my opinion which means the run game.... If SP wanted to go that route after Brees, I would be ok with it more than the idea of THill taking over... I also see the money problem for next year with Brees and SP creative ideas on Offense playing a part here as well in the decision with not going with Teddy
