As mentioned, the large majority of 2023 Palestinians were not even of voting age in 2006, and Hamas didn't even win a majority (they had a plurality). That was 17 years ago. I don't think all Palestinians should be held responsible for the election then. But yes, Hamas did win an election at one point.

The numbers I found were over 440k votes for Hamas. With over a million votes cast. How did 80% not vote? (His point not yours) In my initial post I said exclude women and children as I am thinking they don’t get a vote. That’s near a half million votes. I could be wrong but, nothing much forceful has been done since to remove them from power by the population. And who really knows how many support them at this point. I’d think it’s 50/50 worst case. In which case…. That’s roughly a million people. It’s not a moot point. Certainly not 80% of the population opposes their ideals and methods. At least prior to the last few weeks.
