There are some nice looking QBs in this draft , none of which I’d be willing to pay the price to go up and grab.

Anything QB wise still there at 29 likely not going to be able to get this group over the proverbial “ hump “ before this group gets too old.

So I’m all for Derek Carr.

I’d like to remind everyone that we were dragging a clearly over the hill Drew Brees to NFC championships and only ended up losing to the eventual Super Bowl winner. Our defense did that. Kept things that close.

Late this season it had been said a thousand times how our defense was on par with that 9ers defense.

If we could , replenish our defense back to said heights ( not far to go ). And substitute Drew for Derek Carr , and keep the rest the same , I believe we have our formula.

He’s not gonna run like Anthony Richardson , or be shiny new , but he’s not gonna turn the ball over. He’s not gonna make rookie mistakes in a big game.

I honestly believe we should embrace that we are a defensive team now under Allen , lean into it.

Carr is more than capable , draft him a TE like Mayer or something , try and get MT back on a team friendly deal , sell him on Carr and a new regime and let the cards fall where they may.

A rookie QB says to our veterans , we’re done competing and winning here. Hang ‘em up , why try ? 😒

Carr says , okay I’m reloaded 😤

Not that it means much.. But I remember when the 2022 season started. Everyone feeling pretty high on Winston. We had Michael Thomas back. That game started out rough. Michael Thomas looked like it took him awhile to knock off some rust. Then the way Winston, Michael Thomas, and rest of the offense played out that 4th quarter come back, was really something. I forget at what point early in the season Winston got injured, Michael Thomas got injured and we settled in on Dalton. At this point, is Winston just completely out of the picture ? and it sounds like Michael Thomas is all but gone, if I'm to believe what I've been hearing about this restructure of his contract.

Yeah, this is exactly why. He is a good qb on a bad team with bad coaching. This franchise has none of thst and a legit chance to win with his help.

I keep hearing this Anthony Richardson name. So good I never heard of him except on radio the other day. All I heard is he's not ready and a running QB. That should be your 2 no's on him right there. I pass.
Would set the franchise back years. Guy won’t be ready to play QB at the NFL level for at least 3 seasons if ever

What WR besides Olave will he be throwing the ball to? Raiders had way better WRs and TEs than us and you see how that turned out.

Cam mentioned drafting a qb, just saying

You had me until you said to try and get MT back on a team friendly deal. Not happening, he should have already did that since he hasn’t been healthy in 3 seasons and played as many game as that. Nope, he gotta go, you can’t count on him at this point and the team and him need to go their separate ways.

But, yeah Carr is the best option at plug and play for the team. If he doesn’t have to play hero ball, he’ll be okay. Saints need to think about changing their pass blocking scheme otherwise it doesn’t matter who’s back there, there getting pummeled.

I like Carr, but as things as progressed, I am not interested in him as a big investment at QB. His upside is gone… he’s past his prime, and this team needs a QB that can (hopefully) grow into the role of franchise QB.

Carr isn’t that guy anymore… and for what he would cost, acquiring him would ultimately set the team back.

You don't have to sell me on Carr, I've been on that train for awhile. He's exactly the type of QB at the right point in his career to come to this Saints team.

Carr doesn't have to be developed, he's a finished product just needing a new start.

He'll know how to use the current weapons on the team.

Olave - Renfrow
Shaheed - Ruggs
Johnson - Waller (converted WRs turned TE weapons)
Moreau - Trautman
Kamara - Jacobs (screen game returns)

Quite a few people want us to draft the guy out of Fresno St, well Carr would be the perfect QB to mentor him.

He won't be traded, he'll be released and free to sign wherever. It won't take much for DA to give him a call and say "Hey man, we need you down here in New Orleans". ML will get a deal done and we'll have our QB early in the offseason. Since he'll be released, his signing won't factor into the supplemental pick equation.
