N/S Vikings fly entire staff to private workout with Michael Penix Jr. (2 Viewers)

Over Caleb?
Yep.....
The forgone conclusion is Williams is #1 but his film wasn't overly impressive. This past season, on tape, his best game is probably against the worst defense he faced this season (Colorado). Warner said that Williams playmaking was awesome. Quarterbacking? Not as much. Daniels and Penix were most consistent on film and in terms of actual quarterbacking, I think he has Penix on top.

He has some very bad tape also. Add the injury history to that and to me he’s a 2nd round pick at best.
I feel you on injury but his tape is better than Williams this season. We see Williams running around after missing reads and then makes a great throw but Warner was looking at actual quarterbacking. What can you do "on schedule" and in the pocket. Penix is probably the best out of the bunch in that regards.

This either an attempt to get a team to offer the moon for their pick or to jump them, or their just stupid. I'll go for option 1.

Or a smoke screen to make people think they want Penix so that teams don't jump them to get McCarty.

He may well be a 2nd rounder but the age and injuries are what’s going to do him in. Not to mention he doesn’t have much mobility so he is going to take some shots, but he’s played amazing in some big spots so he isn’t a guy that folds under the bright lights.

The one guy I fell like is a bust waiting to happen is Maye. Him I don’t get but to each their own I guess. The draft is the ultimate lotto.

Looked like a stud a few times I’ve seen him play
I've only seen him twice. Looked good one game then looked terrible against Michigan.

Too many significant injuries in his past for me to want the Saints to take him. I do wish him well wherever he lands and I hope 6 QB's go before we pick.

I've seen Penix in the big games and he has it. Only question is will his body hold up.

Don't think you can arrange a full trip of high level executives to meet a player if it's just a smoke screen. Sounds more like someone with influence in the team's plans that is almost finished convincing the rest to take him if he is there.

Even Warner doubts his own ability to rate college QB’s, it’s a tough business.

I made mention of that, or at least I thought I did. He said the hardest tape for him to get a grasp on is Williams, because he doesn't like the offense and their O-line caused issues, but when looking at them play QB and playing in schedule, playing in the pocket, making certain throws, etc, he said that Penix and JD5 consistently had the best tape. He felt Nix and Penix were the most accurate.

Honestly, what he said is the tweet you posted is why I don't get the "generational" title being thrown at Williams because nothing that he does or have done really points to that. Not saying that he isn't good and can't be great but he probably really only got that title because of playmaking and not quarterbacking, and sometimes, it feels like he is forcing it. If he indeed goes to the Bears, at least he will be in an infinitely better situation that what his predecessor had to go through.

Williams has elite qualities. Daniel’s to me is QB1 in this class but at least with Williams he has so much upside if he gets it right (last year I was completely on the Caleb Williams bandwagon). His play doesn’t scare me off, his maturity or lack there of is what would stop me from drafting him.

Clown me or whatever but Penix is going to be straight dog water in the NFL. I hope we don't waste a draft pick. I would love for Atlanta or Minnesota to take him. He's not and will not be an NFL QB.

I feel like maye is being forgotten about in all of these QBs.

He was phenomenal in 2022 but he was honestly pedestrian in 2023. He’s an enigma to me that I feel shouldn’t go as high as he will.
