Josiah Stewart is poised to be an impactful player for a team that knows how to utilize his skills. As a stand-up rush end, he would fit perfectly into our hybrid 4-2-5 (3-4) defense. His ability to serve as a rush end in the 3-4 alignment and a defensive end in the 4-2-5 scheme aligns well with his experience at Michigan.

Go Blue!

I like him as a mid round 3-4 stand up LB but at 6’2 with cleats and 240lbs he’s just plain small for a hand in the dirt DE imo

Not for our hybrid scheme he's not.
Can you explain? Not arguing I just don’t see how a guy with those measurements wouldn’t be significantly undersized for any duties a DE has like setting an edge in the running game

In a hybrid 4-2-5 defense, the defensive tackle (DT), such as Breese, can be positioned a bit wider as a 5-technique. This alignment places him between the guard and the tackle. Meanwhile, the player who typically serves as a stand-up rush end in a 3-4 defense is now positioned with his hand on the ground, outside the tackle. When the snap occurs, the tackle must account for the 5-technique, which allows the hybrid rush end the flexibility to rush around the end or loop around the 5-technique.

FYI That sounds like a 4i-technique rather than a 5- although it doesn't change your point.
