Pat Kirwan said he heard Carr didn’t want to do Saints contract restructure (41 Viewers)

That's funny, that's why he said in that ESPN article. "id be willing to restructure, and help the team that way but no...i wouldn't take a paycut" He quite literally didn't know that the restructure is in the contract, Underhill posted the language in his contract weeks ago. If the team approached him about a restructure that he'd be willing to negotiate but apparently he didn't realize that they don't have to approach him at all.

Hilarious....if you love the city the city will love you back...if you don't. Well hahahhahahahahah

Then again, he had to have known this becuase he got restructured last year on Feb 23 2024....so it was the exact same thing. Something doesn't add up.

How could Carr not know this? This isn’t the first time he’s had his contract restructured.

This is standard in every player’s contract.

Makes no sense.

I'm sure it's not that he doesn't want guaranteed money. It has to be what we already heard from Underhill and Breer that Carr would have rathered have been cut or traded than have the Saints do a standard restructure. He doesn't really want to be here, but as we have already discussed, I expect that Carr will honor his contract and be the starting QB this year.

Always got a chuckle over your username, having no idea what it meant. Talking to a Canadian friend the other day and she said something about this, guess it’s a whiskey or some such? I’m not much of a drinker so had no idea, anyhow when I heard that I immediately thought of your username and was like “now I know, too cool!” 😂😂

Yes I’m a dork. 😂
Lol I gotta introduce you to a Dark & Stormy then!

I think he is reading the leafs, and he would have prefer to leave this year instead of 2026.

Look at the market for average quarterbacks this time around.

If he really wanted to go, he should have taken steps to facilitate his exit.

Who were we in a bidding war with for Carr's services two years ago? OH... That's right, NOBODY. The Raiders couldn't trade him when he was three years younger than he is now. Who on earth do you guys think would trade so much as a bag of funyons at this point for this bum and his laughable contract? He is here until he's done with football, like it or not....

PS... and then he'll still be on our books for years to after that. FML.

Too weird to be true. I'll chalk this up to the media having it in for the Saints for some reason lately. Stirring up drama. Getting like NBAs teen drama news cycle.

Treat it how you want, but this is now the fourth or fifth person to report this or something similar. Florio, Breer, Underhill/Triplett, and Kirwin all have reported similar things. Apparently Carr preferred to be cut or traded and was willing to waive his no trade clause. The Saints asked him to take a pay cut but he refused and indicated that he would rather go. But, Moore wants him to start at least this year so the Saints did the standard restructure which they can do without his consent. I can't swear that the details are correct but 4 to 5 sources have now reported something similar so it seems pretty clear that Carr doesn't really want to be here and he's here because Moore wanted him as his starter this year. I'm sure Carr will still play his best, but it appears that he would rather be playing some place else.

You know, Underhill has been saying the last couple of weeks, that if Carr would agree to a paycut ($10M would be great, but even $2M just to say he's less than $40M this year) would go a long way to making a gesture to the fans that he's willing to help the team out and just engendering some goodwill from the fans.

This whole situation is the exact opposite. Not accepting a paycut, then (apparently) pouting about a routine restructure, where he still gets all of his money, has to turn even his tepid supporters (like me) against him.
