Saints met with top QB prospect Cam Ward [Schefter: “Its up to CLE, NYG, or maybe Saints to make compelling offer to move Titans off #1 pick”]

I’d love to see it.

I do think, unfortunately, Tennessee seems to be zeroing in on him. I kinda figured teams would fall in love with him during the draft process and he’d end up going 1st to someone.
Yeah Tennessee needs a QB and a few days ago I saw they were ready to transition from Levis. Unless they see a fatal flaw with Ward why not just take him at #1 and be done with it. We'd have to blow them away with a trade offer to get them to move.

This might be as close as we get to drafting a high profile QB prospect. @9 we would give up some draft capital to move up but if you land a top future QB u do it. I can live with not having a 1st rounder for a couple years and some other picks if it means we got a franchise QB. Plenty of talent in rounds 2-7 to get by. We need a star qb
1. Getting Brees to sign here (thanks Miami team doc)
2. Him having the success he did here
3. Him saying and resigning multiple times and playing as long as he did here after initially coming over in 2006

Those things do NOT happen, almost ever. Point of the story is….vast majority of the time you’re going to have to draft your franchise QB. Just look at whoever you consider the top 7-10 QBs today are and how they got to those teams. If we feel Ward is legit, give up 9 and whatever else it takes to make it happen. If you don’t have your QB, you’re going nowhere.

I def see titans taking him at #1, can’t see them trading him at all. But the minuscule amount of hope left in me is like well maybe they are just trying to drive up the offers they’re getting.

I suppose if Tennessee staff think the Saints aren't going to be good this season, it may not be a terrible "gamble" on their part to get pick #9 this year and "presumably" a high 1st round pick next year among other potential Saints picks as well in what should be a higher regarded QB class.

I wouldn't mind trading up for Cam Ward as I think he is the only QB that I'd take high in the draft and I think he could be a top tier NFL QB. I'd much prefer trading up for Cam Ward than staying put and drafting Jaxson Dart or Shadeur Sanders if that's what the front office has in mind. With that said, I really do want to see what Moore can do working with Rattler this season as well.

I rarely come here anymore so had no idea that tweet had gotten so much traction.

I'm trying to be careful how I'm reporting the Ward news. I can say the Saints love him and he's their only graded RD1 QB like I've said on the podcast. I've heard POTENTIALLY it would cost 9/40/71/next year's 2nd or 9/40/2026 FRP (which is still much less than the CHI-CAR deal). If they do it, I think it'll be because Ireland is pushing it, Moore really likes him & Loomis is on board (and likely a Carr trade would then happen to recoup the picks - 4th at best I'd guess). I don't know if it gets done but the team also really wanted to move up for Penix last year too (despite it being reported they didn't, they absolutely did). I don't get the sense TEN loves Ward from everything I've gathered but they have legit no QBs on the roster/team right now.

I've also heard the Moore likes Dart but don't know if he's be in play at 9. If they don't go QB in round 1, I really do think they will try to draft Milroe at some point (if he's there in RD3 especially) because they loved him prior to him plummeting in the second half of Bama's season (to the point he may have been their RD1 pick but who knows his momentum may have not had him as an option if he continued how he started the season). We're breaking down Milroe this weekend for Patreons in our extensive Prospect of the Week series.

It's exactly the reason Howie made the trade with Saints in 2022. He knew the Saints were not close and wouldn't be good. Loomis thought otherwise. The bigger difference with this is they'd be getting the best graded QB in the draft and hopefully a great new offensive minded HC to pair with him. IN THEORY.
