Corey Coleman. I'm jumping on the bandwagon.

We can get a solid def player at 47

voted Jack Conklin OT/OG Michigan State

the depth of this draft is on the defensive line, go Oline here and get defensive help in rounds 2 and 3

I went Dodd. Great pass rusher, some say just as good as Lawson maybe better

No Spence lol

Rankins is easily the best scheme fit. Dodd is a LDE, Billings is a 1Tech, and the two CB's would be of no use since they'd have to take time to adjust to a zone scheme.

Conklin doesn't have the size for a LG(think Peat/Jamar Nesbit/Nicks/ All 6'5 320-325 range) Hell even Grubbs was 6'3 315 which is the same as 6'5 325 from a size/prototype standpoint which I think we are looking for so we can comfortably have Peat move to RT

Also Lelito played at 6'4 320 last year :D

Jared Goff ...

wow he is available..

in all honesty, in real life, if he is there @ 12 I think he is the pick.

surprised no spence either.

I went Conklin obviously, but:

Conklin
Goff (if available)
Rankins
Spence
Ogbah

is how I see the Saints board shaking out priority-wise at 12

No, Goff was picked by Philly already

I'm going by Fits. Conklin doesn't fit LG and isn't that much better of a fit at RG when you look at the types of guys we've played with their in the past. Ogbah doesn't win the edge quickly and might as well be another Cam Jordan. Goff......is possible but unlikely. Would be a waste of a draft pick for US...maybe not the cowboys but US yes. Rankins is undersized and could fill a passrusher role but wouldn't be a starter early. Spence is the only guy that makes scheme/fit/money sense because he fits the prototype Jack in an over, you get 5 years with him at a discounted rate if he turns out to be something, and he has the inside track to start right off the bat over Kikaha/Edebali.

Conklin is 6'6" 310, he could easily put on 10 pounds to fit your parameters for a LG. I agree I don't like Ogbah, and not hell bent on Goff, although I wouldn't mind Goff because I think he would be great in our offense after Drew, and is a better prospect than Grayson. Certainly not a waste, because if we don't have a QB after Drew than we will be picking top 5 ever year no matter who you draft on Defense...

Spence probably has the highest ceiling @ 12, but I have also seen him take some plays off and play lazy. I like Spence probably 3rd after Conklin and Rankins, but I was just merely stating what I think the Saints would do.

Conklin is a damn good run blocker, and pass pro blocker. Plus he can move really well which obviously is good for our zone blocking scheme. I just don't think anybody is a more "surething" to be good than he is @ 12.

He absolutely stones Buckner every play of the Oregon game (and Buckner is a top 8 pick). Also extremely well against Ohio St who has a lot of pros on their line obviously. I think he would be a solid pick @ 12. He doesn't look like the strongest Guard ever, but he rarely gets beat and does a great job negating his opponent. We could do much worse by whiffing on a hopeful

EDIT:
Also, just to add, MSU had Conklin playing at 325 last year. So he would definitely fit the mold being 6'6" 325...

With just some quick searching too, lots of Guards drafted recently (looking at combine weights) checked in around 300-310 and have played very well.

He may not be the pick, but we could do a lot worse. He seems like a legit prospect

Sorry but Spence has Junior Gallette written all over him and less athletic than JG was.
