PORT ALLEN — Police estimated as many as 40,000 or more people turned out Saturday to celebrate what New Orleans Saints Super Bowl champion Randall “Blue” Gay described as “crazy and long.”
The parade to honor Saints Super Bowl champions Gay, of Brusly, and Tracy Porter, of Port Allen, included a steady stream of more than 100 cars, floats, trucks and marching bands, many of them carrying the “Who Dat” theme and with riders tossing the much-coveted black and gold beads.
Along the parade route on North Jefferson Street, music, including “Saints Go Marching In” and the Saints’ newest theme song, the Ying Yang Twins’ “Stand Up and Get Crunk,” echoed from just about every T-shirt stand and flatbed truck while parade goers donned their favorite Saints jerseys.
