Rumor Article about Carr possibly being let go in 2025 offseason {Nov. 17th Article bumped} (1 Viewer)

Carr is going to end up restructured because we need the salary cap relief. Cutting him, we take a huge hit.

Never mind that we need him as a bridge and any new coach is going to want options.
I agree he will be restructured but there is some cap savings on letting him go. Releasing him saves $1.3M and a trade before the league year starts saves $11.3M. The problem is that either case would add $40.1M in dead money to the $48.4M the team has next year. The $48.4 is from Lattimore, Thomas, and Winston.

Edit: It looks like if they do a max restructure the team can save $31M against next years cap.

Possible, but unlikely. You pay him whether he’s on the roster or not in 2025. If anyone here can justify paying him to play for someone else, I’d love to hear it.

The only way they can get under the cap next year is by restructuring Carr (It saves about 30 mil dollars). I don't see a path to cutting or trading Carr (unless a team is willing to eat the 10s of millions we still owe him).

This is just a rumor, but I'd expect it to have some truth behind it. With the salary cap, there will definitely be changes. I don't necessarily see Carr being let go, especially when he is not a top paid QB. I could see Carr being traded if we start the rebuild mode sooner than later.

This isn’t even a rumor. This is a poorly written article from a site that’s never been relevant.

Laughable!

LWOS is a plague. They constantly put of these types of "articles" that are pure speculation based on nothing. They have not basis for this.

Could it happen? Sure. But it's unlikely given the cap hit and the lack of any real options for a starter at QB. IF Rattler or Haener wins the job or if they draft a 1st round QB than wins the job it's possible, but it likely would not happen until then and more likely wouldn't happen until 2026.

Circling back because I guess this rumor seems to have some truth regardless of all the people that pretty much laughed it off.

I'd personally hate to see Carr go, but I just don't see him staying. Another dead money loss for the Saints.

No, there was zero truth to it. Sorry to break that to you and any bruised ego that may apply.

It was a wholly inaccurate article at the time and has no bearing on the state of play now. The Saints weren't releasing or trading Carr last November, and the fact that his days in a Saints uniform are likely numbered now, when the team is under new leadership, does not make that steaming pile of wrong any more correct today.

The article said in the offseason which it is now and more reports are coming out about Carr. I said SOME truth, not the entire article. It has nothing to do with ego.

Nope. You're clinging on to a terrible reach by a trash article. Everyone who criticised it was right. You're wrong. Bye.

None of the "reports" about Carr are actually reports...

They are only speculation! Click Bait! Crap! ETC!
