Bait Car on TruTV (set in New Orleans) (1 Viewer)

Has anyone seen the new show on TruTV called Bait Car? The NOPD acts out some sort of fake scene to leave a nice-looking car unattended with the keys inside and unlocked. Then they watch the cameras from a distance and wait for someone to steal it. As they're driving away, a technician shuts down the car and keeps it locked with the thieves inside so the NOPD can arrest them. Pretty cool for a bit. Gets kinda old cuz it's really just the same thing over and over again. But it's pretty cool that's done in New Orleans. The Ninth Ward has been the primary setting. Anyone see it?

it's not really a new show....it's been around for a while

i was watching it tonight and some dude got in the bait car and ate a poboy, took a phone call and just walked off and left his trash in the truck

The cops didn't trick them into stealing the car. So it wouldn't be entrapment.

I'd be curious to see what happens when they don't play out the little scene first.
Just drive up, some cops get out, shut the door and walk away. Would it take any longer for it to get stolen? Some cynical part of me thinks not.

there was a group of guys that were checking out a bait car....one of them kept saying it was a bait car and that they would end up on TV if they stole it....he even knew there were cameras in the car....yet one of his friends still steals the laptop, GPS and cd player from inside the car

I watched a couple of episodes last night. Some of them were hilarious. Several different times, one guy would be checking the truck out and someone off camera would be shouting at him "Don't do it...You will be on TV tonight if you do". Yeah, he did it anyway.

Most of the times they did a fake DUI arrest which resulted in the truck being left behind unlocked but they had a couple of other models. One featured a girl and her supposed boyfriend getting in a big argument that ended with her leaving with the BF in his car. She conveniently "dropped" the keys to her truck in front of several guys just hanging out at a convenience store. Another scenario had the undercover cop just leave her truck running and unlocked while she went inside a check cashing business.

The guy eating the PoBoy and sweet talking his girlfriend on the phone while sitting in the Bait Truck was too funny. Even the cops were laughing about that deal.

Is it always the 9th ward? My car was stolen in Metairie at the Magnolia Ridge Appartment, formerly known as Lincoln Court Appts. You know, they used to have that sign you could see from I-10 that said, "If you lived here, You would be home by know". I always thought, "no, I do live there and now I'm stuck in traffic".
