Bears Offered the Falcons a Future 4th Rounder to Move from Pick 9 to 8 (1 Viewer)

Did Terry think Chicago was going to take another QB? Lol

Dude has to be a mole for the Saints.

Very odd indeed. The Bears were not a threat at all, and it's not like he needed to worry about the Bears trading the pick to someone else...that just doesn't happen.

Hey...we're worried you might take the guy we want so how about you take this thing that obviously has no value to me so that I can take the guy you want

Usually those one pick trade ups are about making sure no one else trades into the slot to take the guy you want.

Regardless though, Atlanta knew they were taking Penix at this stage, and they also knew the Bears weren’t going to be taking a second QB in the top 8 picks of a single draft, so in all it was wildly irresponsible for Terry to not do this deal.

Only thing I can MAYBE think of is they had already talked to Penix, telling him he is about to be picked, and perhaps they didn’t want to take a few dollars out of Penix’s wallet, just as a good faith, friendly gesture.

Otherwise, this is downright crazy.

This is the NFL.

Teams do favors for players all the time to help them achieve playing time and performance incentives at the end of the year and such; it’s not impossible to fathom.

I don’t think that’s what happened here though. Was just spit-balling ideas other than the idea that Terry just didn’t feel like it. 😂

I ain't even going to lie; you had me like "dang, that sounds believable." lol
I don't know even know what TF was thinking with this. I mean, he turned down a free 4th when he could have gotten both that and the best QB in the draft..lol.

Y’all don’t remember the bears doing this very same thing in the 2017 draft ?

They had the 3rd pick but they made a trade with SF to move up 1 spot to #2 to draft Mitch Trubisky .

Trubisky was not even on SFs board ,
SF drafted the same guy with the 3rd pick they would have drafted with the 2nd .

The bears gave SF more then a 1st round pick to move up 1 spot to take the same guy they could have picked with the pick they already had .

And they drafted Trubisky .

And oh yea . 8 picks later another QB by the name of Mahomes gets drafted

Mahomes to the Bears probably would be in the same boat as Trubisky...lol. Mahomes got a Andy Reid; Trubisky got John Fox...the levels..
