So I need some advice from the locals. I have a blog where I review a new beer each day. I live in Canada and will be making a run down to Buffalo to grab some different beers. They have some Abita beers. Which ones would you suggest I grab if they have them and why?
I know most of you will say all :) but I want to grab about 3-4 as I have other brands I want to pick up.

Abita Amber - Available
Abita Jockamo IPA - Available
Abita Light - Out of Stock
Abita Purple Haze - Available
Abita Strawberry Harvest - Seasonal
Abita Peacan Harvest - Seasonal
Abita Christmas Ale - Seasonal
Abita Fall Fest - Seasonal
Abita Restoration Pale - Out of Stock
Abita Turbo Dog -Available

In all honesty, when you can find Abita, grab whatever it is. But, to be picky, Amber is eh, but Turbo Dog is goooooood. Pop loves IPAs and I'm sure he'll :9: that one. Purple Haze grew on me and I now consider those to be quite slammable.

Since you'll be in NY, I would suggest Ommegang. Made in Cooperstown. NONE of them are bad, but I really suggest Rare VOS, Hennepin and Ommegang. Three Philosophers and Witte are really good too.

Of that list, Turbo Dog and Jockamo stand out. I like the Wheat, followed by the Pecan Harvest after those two. Try Andygator if you can get it.

Abita Abbey Ale is outstanding. Don't know if you can get it in Buffalo.

I second the Ommegang beers. If you can, try the Ommegeddon. I sampled it at Extreme Beerfest - it was really good.

Founders and Allagash make great beers as well.

Purple Haze followed by Amber (Mostly because you can find amber anywhere)

The seasonals are fairly good, and if the place is an easy run, you might want to go with the seasonals first and then come back and get the standards...since later on in the year you won't be able to get the specific seasonals. I think Strawberry is the current seasonal on the market, though it tastes like a kids cereal to me...too sweet.

The store around the corner keeps the large bottles of Andy and Abbey in stock so I usually get one of either for an appetizer. I love the Abbey, btw. It's got to be one of my all time favorites.

Have you ever done a review on Sammuel Smith's Old Fashioned Strong Pale Ale? Spells like skunk if you chill it, but boy, does it go down nice!

Thanks Gang, This gives me some good Ideas....What style is TurboDog? Also thanks for the heads up on the Ommegang. They do have them there. I love Belgian style so that is right up my alley.
