In Bill Belichicks Wednesdays news conference he complimented a list of New Orleans Saints players and coaches ahead of this week's game. He spent a little extra time talking about Cam Jordan.

"Jordan is one of the players I have the most respect for in the league. He's been a great player for a very long time, very durable, whatever it was--177 straight games he played. This guy shows up every week and plays well, run, pass, situational football, really smart player. This guy's a great player."

When asked what is was about Jordan that earned him so much respect he replied, "His consistency, his durability. He's play after play production."

Cam Jordan has 8 Pro Bowl selections in 13 seasons to go with 116 career sacks and a spot on the Hall of Fame's All-2010s Team. Still, it might not be a stretch to say he's been overlooked. He's been an All-Pro just once, he's produced double-digit sacks in six seasons but never led the league and he's been a standout on a Saints team that for so much of his tenure was known for its Drew Brees-led offense. But Belichick has noticed him, particularly his greatness.

Classic Belichik, pumping sunshine to a player so they spend extra time mentally tooting their own horn instead of preparing for the Patriots offense.

Edit- but he’s not wrong

I remember an interview just after that draft where CSP said his son was griping at him during the first round that they picked Cam instead of Ingram like he'd been expecting after how much CSP had gone on about Ingram before the draft. In that interview, CSP said he told his son, "This is a special player."

I did wonder after seeing that if the conversation prompted them to make the trade up later in the round to get Ingram, too, but bottom line, CSP was absolutely correct in his evaluation of Cam. He has been, and continues to be, a special player. He absolutely was the right choice that day, no matter how much they liked Ingram, and has paid dividends ever since.

Now there's more smoke pouring out of that boy's butt than a fog machine.

Cam is special. We're really lucky to have him. There are guys who peak higher than him. But there are not many who will last anywhere near as long as him while playing at a high level. If he finish out his contract here and stays healthy, he's going to end up top 3 all time in longevity at his position. That's insane to think about.

i agree that could be a tactic. He knows how much weight his comments carry.

Well Belichick historically game plans to take away one of your strengths and forces you to adjust with a secondary approach. This is quite the conundrum being the Saints haven’t established a strength yet. The passing game is ineffectual, the running game has been lethargic, and the coaching, well is lacking.

Why all the likes for the above???

I would MUCH MORE PREFERRED if Bellicheat had stated that the entire Saints D are like a bunch of Hot Dog Vendors with little wienies!

(I don't want the Saints to be buttered up, but FIRED UP!)

Given that our last 2 1st round picks at that position haven’t been able to complete one whole season yet in their careers (probably barley have a complete season put together combined) is a testament to how much of great player Cam is.

I remember his rookie year coming from the far DE to chase Jamal Charles all the way to the goal line on 90 yard TD run around left end. I knew we had a player.
