I'm going to a store I'm not familiar with
I'm looking for a widget
When I walk into the store I either go to customer service or find an employee and ask, "Excuse me, Can you tell me where I can find widgets?"
The employee tells me "Aisle 12, about halfway down, left hand side, they'll be about hip height" (although employees who know the store's inventory like that, like the back of their hand, are becoming more rare, but they can look it up
I say Thank You, and go to aisle 12, get the widget and checkout
When my girlfriend goes to a store looking for a widget she will walk up and down every single aisle and look at every shelf until she finds it
When she's by herself she can do whatever she wants, but when I'm with her I'm just thinking to myself "Will you please just ask somebody?"
More than once I just ask someone which pisses her off to no end
So, in general which approach do you favor?
