We have a tremendous number of needs. To the point that we can draft the best player availabe and it will be the best player at a position of need, no matter who it is.

This pole isnt even strictly draft. Either a starting caliber free agent or a top 100 player who can be a starter as a rookie. Which position can we absolutely not go into camp without adding a starter.

Note: intentionally left tacoes off the list. You can write it in if you want, which still qualifies this as a legitimate SR Pole.

We have 2 phases to acquire players to fill our needs. The draft and the 2nd wave of FA. If it were me I'd look to fill in the 1st 3 rds of the draft players that can contribute now and in the long term, AND positions that are high salary positions like WR, Edge,CB, OT.
Then depending on who we draft , we fill the other needs in the 2nd wave of FA. Because we all know that after the draft is when teams cut players depending on who they draft AND they come cheaper because teams have already spent most of their cap $

I feel like it's CB.

All other positions at least have starters. Could use upgrades and depth everywhere, but we're short a CB. Kool-aid, Taylor, and right now, Yiadom. Nothing against Yiadom, but he's not a starter. Certainly good depth to have and a strong special teams player, but man we need a guy in front of him on defense. I don't like the idea of being one injury away from starting an UDFA or picking up street agents that didn't even make a team and having them come in and try to cover and tackle NFL caliber WRs.
I remember seasons where our offense was near elite, our DL was good, but our secondary had one or two 3rd down ATMs that never ran out of money.

Next would be guard I think. Bringing in two depth guys with starting experience helps and at least gives us a camp competition with a decent back-up if/when needed. Still, I'd be shocked if we didn't spend one of our first 3 picks on OL. And who knows, maybe Salvadari finally gets healthy?

After that I'd go WR (split end). This is pretty much an equal need to OG except that we do have a RB and a couple TEs that "can" catch the ball to go along with Sheed and Olave (if he can somehow avoid more head trauma). Guard is slightly more of a need because there's only a few things you can do to to scheme help to a hole in your interior OL and those things require scratching off a skill player for those plays.

I'm not sure DL or edge is as big a need as some think it is. Not elite and short on depth, but we've had worse than Breese, Granderson, Young, and an aged version of Cam. Also hoping the new scheme helps rejuvenate some of our players that have been struggling. The run-D has to improve on it's own, but CB beats out DL because man, if you can't held coverage for 3 seconds, you might as well not even rush the passer. Just have your DL try to to jump up and try to get a hand on the ball or something.
(or yell batter batter batter swing chatter at the QB. Upgrades and depth and developing for the near future are still huge needs here.

I'm not sure about LB to be honest. It's always felt like we only had 2 maybe 3 LBs on the roster for a decade or so. Maybe the new scheme requires more LBs? Or maybe some guys we've been using at DE stand up and thrive like Baun did once he got used in that way. An eventual starter or two to develop feels like the biggest need here.

At safety we need a 3rd guy for certain packages, depth, and an eventual replacement for Matieu. Probably an equal need to LB.

At RB and TE we need a difference maker. At TE because we don't really have one and at RB because the clock is ticking on AK.

All in all.... Even if QB were on the pole list, I don't think its the biggest "now" need. If Carr is healthy (and doesn't get dealt or released), we have an average to above average QB who has shown that we can win games with. We do not have a QB behind him that we can say the same about unless Rattler makes a big leap and it turns out the lack of OL and weapons made him look worse than he was. In any event, we need a QB very soon that is the next man up, whether that's this season or next. All that being said, QB is by far the biggest franchise need from now until we find him.

Almost right. The phases to fill needs are the first wave of free agency and the post draft wave of free agency. During the draft it should be just pure BPA. Don't get cute. Don't fall in love with drafting any position. Simply grab the best players available regardless of position.

We have to sign a real tightend. Been playing without one for too long.

Gotta be CB. This went from a position of strength and depth to tenuous in a hurry. Even if Cool Aid and Taylor are legit starters, we still need another one. We thought we had a ton of depth last year and that depth got shallow real quick. I'm leaning Barron at 9.

WR is my second need as I feel we are lacking size at the position. Is Bub Means our biggest dude? 6'1", 212. Give me a 6'4" guy with some contested catch ability.
Actually, give me the LSU TE in the second round. So I guess I changed from WR to pass catcher.

Then we can find a DE with some upside, an OG in the 4th and round out with a LB and a RB as this draft is deep there.

Well it looks like I've already got this draft done for the Saints. I'm sure they won't give me credit (in the form of paycheck) but I've got our team on the right track now.

We need LG1, CB2, OLB/Edge 1, DE3, TE 2/1, WR 2/3 plus depth at S, DT, OT, QB (Let’s not talk about QB1 coz there’s no one worth it at 9)

When and who you take depends on the depth at each position.
We really need LG most but could possibly get a starter in Rd 4 with Wyatt Milum.

Same for TE but we could probably get Arroyo or Fanin in rd 3.

CB is a gamble as Revel should be there at 40 but the injury is a big issue. Personally don’t like the prospects beyond rd 2

DE could wait til rd 3/4 where Gillotte should be around.

WR isn’t promising after rd 2 so even if the need is nor as big we may have to pull trigger earlier.
