Grupe’s leg looked noticeably more powerful on Friday. The first kick the media saw him attempt was from 57 yards, and he drilled it with plenty of distance to spare. He followed that up by connecting from 61 yards out and sent several kickoffs through the back of the end zone.

Get To Know Blake Grupe, The Rookie That Won The Kicker Competition
Grupe played college football at Arkansas State and was the all-time scoring leader but later transferred to Notre Dame. He decided he wanted to spend his sixth season in a bigger spotlight with the Fighting Irish after setting a Red Wolves scoring record. The Sedalia, MO native wanted a challenge.
He earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors after the 2019 season and was a second-team player after the 2021 season. In 2019, he was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, which goes to the nation’s best placekicker. He ranked 6th nationally in scoring among kickers that season with 110 points.

I hate to be that guy, but our choice of kicker and punter probably cost us a shot at the playoffs. Lutz and Gilikin were both superior.

That’s the reason every kicker gets to kick a field goal

Thanks for the obvious. This post really contributed positively to this thread.

In other news; our inability to score points led to inflating this child into a category that seems like he is actually good. In reality, Pete Carmichael lead offense did nothing but score FGs and is a big reason why we lost several games this year.

Who are his saints rookie kicker competition?

Grupe is one of fifteen Rookie Kickers in Saints Franchise History. He now holds more Saints Rookie Kicker Records than any other kicker on the list below:

You’re the one who made the obvious post

Don’t get salty about the obvious response

Our inability to score TD is why he had the opportunity
That’s the reason every kicker gets to kick a field goal
Thanks for the obvious.

What was so hard for you to understand about the obvious before posting your statement?

To all the Karens and Stewarts attacking me for my post;

My point was his FG stats are inflated due to our inability to convert and score TD. Had we of actually converted those easy 3rd downs and scored TD he would not have these records. Thanks for taking this very easy post and turning it into a heated argument.

PS. I am not salty; just irritated at people who are trying to make this more than it is.

"I'm not whining" he whined.

Great start for Grupe. He'll have access to training facilities & coaching for a full off-season and I think we can expect him to improve from here.

Glad we don't have to worry about kicker for a while.

Still think he should pronounce his last name Groooop. Just more fun to say I AM GROOOP
