Car fire and Explosion in French Quarter (1 Viewer)

this may turn out to be not even thread worthy but at the moment it is rather bizarre. They are shutting down a 2-4 block radius for gas and electric that may include my work. Has me wondering everything from attempt on a persons life to some how tied in with the Hard Rock collapse since it is only 4 or 5 blocks away and reports are that it blew off 4 manhole covers. Those things are heavy and it said that it blew them into cars and houses.

Fire investigators believe the explosion happened just after 5 a.m. near the intersection of Dauphine and Toulouse streets.

I haven't been able to find any. I started the thread hoping one of our twitter wiz kids would have something.

A good friend of mine lives next to Fahy's which is in that block. It woke him up this morning, he said it was very loud.

since it blew off manhole covers, it seems like it had to start underground (in my limited thinking) Maybe the car was just over one and the tank ignited. Whatever it is, it isn't really any less unsettling.
