Analysis Carr has found the right fit in Kubiak’s offense (The Athletic) (1 Viewer)

Great article. I love how it touched upon how cerebral QBs like Carr and Rodgers don't love the principle of the offense, surrendering their ability to make adjustments at the LOS and adopting the concept of a "hot route" in case the called protection fundamentally fails against the opponent's pass rush. I found it very interesting that even Rodgers didn't like it, despite having some of his most successful seasons running it. There's a lot of ego at play there, in my opinion.

It's kind of like these guys want to pursue perfect, at the cost of good. This offense may not be as "perfect" as Carr calling the perfect adjustments based on the opposing defense, but running this offense well despite its shortcomings at times (I.e. a play where you have to go to the hot route when maybe you could have just adjusted the protection at the line to get more passing options available) is worth it.

Great assessment!

One thing I'm anxious to see more of is Carr's ability to make elite level reads in this offense especially when we eventually play a team that can slow down our rushing attack and force Carr to beat them.

That pass to Rashid in the cowboys game against two high shell where Carr threw the ball before Rashid even got behind the DBs was one of the best reads I've seen from any QB in the game. And to drop a dime to Rashid in stride was absolutely amazing to watch. These are the type of reads and throws only a hand full of QBs in the league can make and it shows you that he as the ability to be an elite QB in a system like this. I might be getting ahead of myself but we could be seeing a Stafford-like resurgence from Carr where an underappreciated QB pairs up with the perfect offense and make people remember how good he is.

Great post, Chuck.

The article is Coach Dan-esque! It was a fantastic read; thank you! :9:
