Good, there’s equivalent starting Guard talent on day 2 of the draft for $8 million cheaper on rookie salary. It probably didn’t make sense to pile up another large OL cap hit so soon.

I would’ve hate to see the Saints give Becton a big contract out of desperation to fill a need because of one season playing on a great Eagles O-Line. He would’ve been a complete unknown at Left Guard.

fine w/ that. He had his best season as a RG. My question always was how do you play him at RG if Ruiz is there…who moves? And if it’s him…does he play as well at LG as he did RG.

So the best guards in FA left are Teven Jenkins (who we haven't been linked to yet), Dalton Risner, Will Hernandez and then a 33 year old Brandon Scherff. Doesn't look like there are any crossovers between them and our current coaches.

Wanted Becton originally as well due to the connection to Coach Moore but recently shifted to Jenkins largely due to that fact at the end. Tired of seeing this team get new players only to play them out of the position they've shown to play at least moderately well.

Brandon Scherff is who we should look to for value. I’d move Ruiz to LG and pay Scherff a 2yr 15-17M deal that we can walk away from in 1 yr to play RG. He is still a solid pass blocker.

I'm not too broken up over not getting Becton.... To me he is in the same category as our own Trevor Penning. Horrific track record of injuries and poor play....but just like Trevor finally had a decent season. Do you give Penning 10m a year right now, hell no you don't, and you don't give Becton one either.

A lot of people are high on Zabel out of NDSU but I watched him at the Senior Bowl & he has slow feet for an OG.
He looked good at C...
Dillinger LSU looked terrible at OT but looked good at OG in the game.

I'm still hopeful that we can sign G Teven Jenkins because I would like us to go into the draft & be able to select the BPA that drops to us at 9...
We possible could find a starting OG in the 2nd round or later but the later you draft someone the more it is likely they will not be ready to start on day 1.

Every Saints fan saw first hand in 2024 what happens when you have a massive hole in your OL...
It ends with a very disappointing season!
