Edit... He transferred from Minnesota does anyone follow the Gophers and could you explain why he left..... depth chart issues? Coaching change?

Wow, he had 9 catches for 169 yards and 2 TDs against Tennessee State and 11 catches for 153 and a TD against Murray State. This guy's a beast. You don't get any better than Tennessee State and Murray State.

Cue the Cromartie ripping.

My small school WR is Chaz Schilens of SDSU. 6-4.5 and runs a late 4.3. Also 39 inch vertical so he plays like he's ten feet tall. 7th rounder.

Wow very insightful post glad you could contribute to the board.:9:

Colston received a scholarship to the Division I-A Missouri but turned the offer down in favor of Division I-AA Hofstra.
In four seasons at Hofstra, Colston appeared in 40 games (37 starts) and recorded 182 catches for a school-record 2,834 yards and 18 touchdowns. As a senior in 2005, Colston and fellow teammate Devale Ellis, now with the Detroit Lions, formed one the most potent receiving tandems in the history of Division I-AA football. Colston was named to the All-Atlantic 10 first team after making a career-high 70 receptions for 976 yards (13.9 avg.) and five touchdowns. Ellis had 74 catches for 943 yards and five scores.
Colston had 14 receptions for 335 yards (23.9 avg.) and three touchdowns as a freshman. In 2002, he made 47 grabs for 614 yards (13.06 avg.) and three scores. As a junior in 2003, Colston led the team with 51 receptions for 910 yards (17.8 avg.) and seven touchdowns. Colston redshirted the 2004 season due to a shoulder injury.

I know not every player comes from a small school but it's not like a small school guy never made the roster.

hahah very good point, but there will always be people who discount very good players because of where they played college ball you would think that after someone like Colston is on our roster that peeps would have a more open mind.... guess not. :)

Small school receivers are nothing new. Remember Jerry Rice was a pick from Mississippi Valley State.

And where were Terrell Owens and Randy Moss from?

Here are the top small school WRs IMO. Most should be late rounders. The ones in italics were invited to the combine. Keep an eye out for them, the Saints may well get one.

Jerome Simpson, Coastal Carolina
Dexter Jackson, App. St
Pierre Garcon, Mount Union
Bruce Hocker, Duquesne
Jamar Johnsen, Jackson St.
Micah Rucker, Eastern Illinois
Ben Bailey, Northwestern St
Chaz Schilens SDSU
Jason Jones, Arkansas Pine-Bluff

From different outlets and clips I have seen they're the best.

Simpson, Garcon, and Hocker I have seen play and are all studs. I have also seen Jackson in the Michigan game and he was very impressive, 2 TDs and IIRC close to 100 yards. I would be happy to draft any. I don't know what they put up at the combine but Simpson and Garcon can jump higher than the majority of NFL WRs. Hooker also dominates at 6-4.
Hocker is a Colston clone, as is Schilens

Itawamba anyone? Already forgot Joe?
Apparently. To be honest, I thought of him right away. Bet others did, too. Need some more healing time I guess?

Wow, he had 9 catches for 169 yards and 2 TDs against Tennessee State and 11 catches for 153 and a TD against Murray State. This guy's a beast. You don't get any better than Tennessee State and Murray State.

Actually, it was 9 for 169 vs. Tennessee TECH. May not seem like a big difference, but since DRC plays for Tennessee State, it got me curious.

Tennessee State held him to 3 catches for 50 yards.

Yes. Give me another couple years of <300 yards receiving and <2 touchdown catches for the Falcons and a formal apology and all will be forgiven Joe.. :9:
