Could this defense be the next historic defense next to the 2015 Broncos? (1 Viewer)

I'm a bit more measured.

What I liked: we generally tackled well and we pretty consistently collapsed the pocket around Tannehill.

What I didn't like: twice we were bailed out on potential big plays b/c Tannehill threw bad passes. Granted, when you've been consistently pressuring/hitting/collapsing the pocket, some QBs get jittery and start missing the easier throws. But we got a little lucky on D, too.

I don't mean the above to sound too harsh/down. Overall, I like this D. Not sure they're 2015 Broncos level though.

No. Tennessee isn’t lighting the world on fire offensively. Oh, and they allowed almost 5 yards a carry so definitely no
About 90% of the rest of our schedule won’t be lighting the world on fire offensively either. Jaguars and Lions looks like the only opposing offenses with consistent QBs to account for. I think they’ll target their TEs more instead of their WR1s vs Latt.

Teams will have to keep up with our offense through the pass and abandon the run later in games. They’ll end up shutdown by our secondary. We also won’t be facing Henry type RBs rest of the season. Defense has the best situation this year to be #1 in total defense and greater historically.

They should be a good one especially since Defenses and O'Lines improve throughout the year as they get more reps together.

Moving forward, my biggest concern on D remains lack of depth at LB. Glad we have Jaylon Smith on the PS. But if another team picks him up, n DD r Pete gets hurt we’re gonna b in deep doo doo! 🫣So I HOPE he gets called up sooner than later!

Meanwhile, I know it’s only one game, but as for the play of the D today:

After following as many of the media/ podcast reports about the D n it’s players as I could all throughout TC, I gotta admit that, overall, they were actually RIGHT about this years Defense!

They talked about the improved depth n play of the D line! They liked what they saw from that group, esp DTs Saunders Bresee n DE Carl Granderson.

They also talked about improved depth n play in the secondary! But like many of us fans, they also wondered if Alontae could successfully make the move from CB to Nickel ( so far so good).

But nearly ALL agreed that Marshon Lattimore is the best and/or most important player on D, if not the entire team! When he’s on the field, it frees DA to open up his Defensive Playbook, n run more schemes, coverages n blitzes! IF he stays healthy, IMO, he might well end up havn his best season as a Pro!

We’ll see!
