Cowboys might release Amari Cooper (1 Viewer)

What is the likely market for cooper? There is a Fair amount of WR FA that are pretty good, and lots of WR talent in the draft. He will not fetch anywhere close to that $20M. I don't think we should rule him out automatically.

If we weren't in the cap situation we're in, you're probably right.
And the draft is just chock full of WR this year.

Yeah, I wouldn't go all in on a huge contract. But if he will take a reasonable market level deal, it takes care of the #2 WR spot and allows a rookie some time to develop. Or, the rookie comes in great and beats out Cooper and we have great depth at WR. It's a win/win situation either way. And, it allows the team to use a draft pick they would have used on a second WR in the draft on a backup Tackle or an interior OL to compete with Ruiz.

I mean, it looks like a deep group of WRs in the draft, but no draft pick is ever a sure thing. Cooper is a sure thing.

Remember all the talk about the Cowboys having their next triplets? Lol. A few years and a few awful contracts later Zeke is washed and Cooper is on his way out. And not much to show for it.
In today's era of football, having a big three like that is going to be hard to pull off. Even if it does, it will be short lived.

I would be tempted to trade back a little to pick up an additional pick. You can get sooooo MUCH WR talent in the draft, it's unreal.
It probably won’t happen based on the Saints draft history, but I sure would like to see the Saints find ways to get additional choices this year!

Receivers are tricky to draft. NFL corners are next level and many of them won't pan out. There may be many great receivers in the draft, but we are only going to pick one maybe two of them. So our chances of striking out are greater than most think. MT panned out obviously, but Meacham never gave us 1st round production.

Interesting option if he indeed becomes a free agent. Yeah, there is a lot of talent in the draft, but many highly valued prospects never pan out. Cooper has been productive at a high level and will only be 28 at the start of next season. Not sure the Saints will be in the running for what he's likely to command, but he's a talented player at a position of need.
