Has anyone watched this?






I don't watch much true crime shows (it's like 70% of what my girlfriend watches), so I'm not as familiar with the story beats and tropes of the shows

But this story was fascinating, and messed up and each episode just led to more questions

and after every time adoptive father Michael finishes talking I imagine him saying "aaaaand scene"

He is very 'affected and dramatic' let's say. Definitely looks like a performance to me

and like my girlfriend says both things can be true,

Natalia could be a complete sociopath and the Barnetts could be terrible people

But that last episode cliffhanger was a doozy. Did not see that coming

Yes. Most of it or, at some point, probably all of it. It was hard to follow because what I saw seemed sort of chopped up and mixed together for maximum dramatic effect. Besides which the story is hard to follow anyway. Adopted father Michael Barnett seems to keep trying to go for the sympathy arc and I'm just like, Sorry, I can't get past the crazy eyes, dude, to see you as even a TINY bit stable. Of course, he's been found not guilty in the litigation so that will only bolden him to keep saying, It's all Kristine; but no charges have ever been brought against his ex-wife.

I agree with your girlfriend and I think that's basically what the one person I've discussed this case with has come up with also. I was trying to look for ONE villain and there's just too many. Natalia has absolutely been victimized and can't seem to find anyone with integrity to help her ... but she also kind of scares me. And, indeed, her current adoptive family who adopted her as an adult are kind of speaking out now and/or are in trouble themselves for something. I don't know, I can't keep track.

I finally had to just stop watching. Just too much crazy going around.

The timeline was definitely confusing

It was hard to keep track of what was happening when and who knew about it at the time or found out about it later

The opinions on Natalia seesaw wildly

“She was the sweetest little girl”

“She was sinister and creepy”

“She was no girl. That was a young woman”

They also really glossed over the adoption agency

“We have this girl for you but you need to come get her tomorrow”

I don’t know how adoption works but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work like that

And Michael is no angel (obviously) and hardly innocent but Kristine comes across as a total monster

Wonder if she’ll ever tell her side of the story

I doubt it. As it stands now what I know about her, albeit onesided, she disgusts me.

Natalia would certainly be justified in wanting them both to burn in hell

I found it interesting that she was willing and wanting to meet and reconcile (somewhat) with Michael

I was hoping something was going to come of that that was illucidating .. but then he ran out again.

Yeah, I saw some of that. I think I was kind of over it by then. The best chance was the first chance which, again, I agree, I blame on Antwon by being too involved and making it essentially about him.
