DA and PC (1 Viewer)

I don't know why people are blaming PC. All this is on DA. He was bad as a Raiders' coach. And his OC at the time was just as bad. He controls his OC and what needed to put out when it comes to pay calling.
Because Pete is in charged of calling the plays. But Dennis as a head coach needs to recognize the issues that has plagued this offense since last year. Tough decisions are not being made and that is where Dennis is criticized for

We can win with DA (bc of his defense), if we had a decent OC. Not saying DA is a good HC bc he’s really not. He’s proved that he is unwilling to do what is necessary right now.
He's never had a winning season, yet people still believe in him. I don't get it. It must be nice to be in the network.

Oh, he's not free of blame, PC is there because DA wants him there doing what he is doing! DA is not coaching to win the game, he's doing his best not to lose the game and this passive offense fits that philosophy. They are content to take what opposing defenses give them instead of attacking defenses because it has work for the Saints in the past with an older Brees.

Brees was able to keep the chains moving and he was able to turn a 50yd TD drive into 15 play 5 minute drive in his later years. Even then, it became harder and harder to execute and score, especially in the playoffs. Each drive had to be perfect and every pass was heavily contested.

These guys aren't capable of doing that so it's time to change what they are doing on offense. Taking what they give you shouldn't be your primary goal, you need the D to react to your aggressiveness.

I hated the hire when it happened and got flamed. It's an, "I told you so" type of moment. He came in cocky and he had no reason to be. It's a role he has never had success with. He should have been humble. When I listen to him talk to the team he sounds like an interim coach not the "Guy"

Like I said, I don’t believe he is a good HC. He has the defense playing at a level that can win ball games, ONLY if he had an offense that could compliment it. Being that he didn’t make the correct OC choice and still procrastinates with making a change at OC, makes him a terrible HC. He just doesn’t get it. He’s not willing to do what needs to be done and for that he is not a good HC. I’ve seen HCs that were not any good, win in the NFL, all bc they had talent, and decent assistants. Plus, if we got rid of DA, who is going to replace him? There’s not 1 assistant on the staff who has HC experience or is ready to be an interim. Gruden would be an option and most likely the only real option to step right in, and I’m sure Ole Red Roger would love that.

Edit: I forgot Doug Marrone used to be a HC. He would most likely be the interim HC.

He not that good of a DC either. Alway win and lose close games. He treats his offense like his defense. Instead of going for the kill he goes into his preventive mode. You see that when he was a DC and now you see that as a HC dealing with the offense.

DA stands right there and watches PC call bad games. It’s his job to fix that. It’s not like the problem is out of his hands.

I think about half of the posters in here for some reason don't believe this, harking back to the days of Jim Mora (Mora's not the problem, Carl Smith is!!!!!). Which is utterly ridiculous.....

He's the best DC in the league for the first 28 minutes of each half.

you know it's entirely possible that the raiders OC was as bad as PC. I mean i'm with you i do put blame on DA for not firing PC at the end of last season, but PC runs the offense. they both share the blame but neither are absolved of their incompetence by the other.

Ultimately, this is always the right way to understand it.

The HEAD coach owns it all. His job is to make the tough decisions with regard to all 3 phases, make sure it all meshes.

Payton got a lot of passes for awful defenses and special teams over time because seemed like he was graded on a curve as an "offensive coach." But the job is across all three phases and has elements of admin and personnel management.

DA should be accountable that way too, and he's not meeting the decisions head on at this point. The ship is sinking. Offense is regressing now, on top of what we saw last year. The time is now and if he doesn't have a plan beyond "just keep doing what you are doing" plus some hopium, then he's done. It's over.

GM needs to be stepping in but don't see that either.
