It'll be interesting to see where Dennis Allen lands and how many of our players he tires to steal from us. My guess is he signs with the Bengals or the 49ers.

Mod Edit
Colts to interview Dennis Allen for their vacant Defensive Coordinator position on Friday, Jan. 17.

Maybe a 'special consultant' for the Broncos.

But more likely he sits on the couch for at least a year getting paid not to coach (thankfully).
Dudes a high end DC. I think his scheme needs new rules. Modern offenses w/ motion are breaking it. A year away from the game should give him time to study as tweak it

He is a paradox of sorts. He is a great defensive coordinator who has fielded some great defenses.

He is an abysmal head coach with THE highest losing record. He is not a leader of men, at all but one hell of an X's and O's guy.
He's a think tank, likes to gameplan etc. Doesn't like to develop relationships and it's impossible to lead people if they don't feel connected to you in some way.

Dude is a legit DC. I give him his props.

Abysmal HC. Not hindsight, not reflecting back, straight up knew after the first season (honestly, probably 5-6 games in) that DA wasn't gonna work in New Orleans. You can go pull up my posts on this website. To me, it was clear he just didn't have "it" as a head coach.....especially considering his time (also) with the Raiders. If my memory serves me correctly, we bungled a sure victory against the Bungles about mid year (that was the sign), then totally wet the bed in the finale against Carolina when their QB had less than 100 yards passing and we lost. If ever there was a time not to give a coach more time (firing after one year), DA deserved the axe. He got another 1.5 seasons. I was not critical of the Saints for hiring him - I understood the logic behind the decision, but early on it was evident DA didn't have the goods.

Funny enough, I think if it was up to Loomis, DA would have coached the entire 2024 season. I think Gayle Benson called for his head after meeting with prominent players. THAT'S why I'm terrified of Loomis making the call on the next coach. He was still singing the praises of DA as he fired him. Giving injuries as the excuse. Let's hope we get lucky and land a real coach this time.

This isn't related, but what about Spags.

He's being interviewed for the HC (Raiders) I think, and his record w/ the Rams was as abysmall as DA's was during a similar timespan. Does anyone think his HC career is likely to go the same path as DA's?

If he goes to the Raiders, yes.
