a question for those that are on top of our contracts and future cap situation etc - is there a reasonable off ramp within the structure of the Carr contract or are we stuck with him making starter money for three more seasons after this?

I’m going to assume the coaching staff is on pace to get canned before Carr’s contract is up (maybe not a safe assumption with our ownership but whatever) and I’m curious if the next coaching staff is going to be saddled with Carr or if there is an out along the way somewhere?

Again I’m assuming we don’t turn it around, hope we do but clearly we all have doubts at this point.

Carr’s dead cap is $17.1 million in 2025 and $11.4 million in 2026.

I think 2026 is probably the preferred year to move on if we have to. He’d have to be really ineffective in W/L to move on in 2025. He’s a FA in 2027.

Note: Dead cap amounts of the next seasons increases after new restructures. These are just the current numbers.

2026 would be the earliest reasonable year to move on if we have to.

Naw we can handle that 17 million dead cap after next year. It was always structured as a 2 year deal.

Yay, more football purgatory.
Might as well keep him until we can find a youngster with potential. I don't DA will let him go and at this rate, he'll get another year.

A competent offensive coaching staff would have Carr back playing like a top 10-12 QB.

We’re not “saddled” nor “stuck” with him, we just need a better offensive playcaller that plays to his strengths along with the rest of the offensive players.

And one that actually gets plays in on time and Carr doesn’t have to constantly holler at to get plays in.

I guess..? Ideally I'd like to think of a world where DA isn't near this franchise. Nothing against Derek. He was mislead into believing we had a great offensive mind here. But at this point I'd rather just blow everything up and start over.

I noticed this today. Carr was annoyed constantly looking to the sideline for a playcall.

It’s been like that all season. I have a feeling this is also our problem with so many improperly ran routes, they don’t have enough time in the huddle to make sure everyone understands the play call because they’re having to rush due to the coordinator being slow getting plays in.

I think we have a team friendly out after 2024 if I'm not mistaken.
If they don't restructure next years salary they could get out after this year but they will likely have to push most of it into the future years making next year a must and 3035 cap neutral.
