I've heard it said over and over, "Zion stays in shape by playing basketball."

Ingram is playing tonight in Utah and he's three years older than Zion.

Just don't get it...

Given his reputation of being a glass cannon I'm not opposed to this management strategy. Also worth noting that this is really bad scheduling by the NBA having the Pels play back to back away games less than 24 hours apart.

I don't either. But thank the NBA for their infernal ability to schedule.

It was like they said on the broadcast, when you play a late game on the West Coast and lose an hour flying to Utah at altitude, they're setting you up to fail, I expect the Pels to win by 30 on Monday night with Zion back and the players rested...

I agree. Gets paid far too much to miss so many games. Also a young player still. I understand he hasn’t made it through a full season yet so I get having veteran rest days but this seems a bit much.

It’s because he plays basketball like a FB on a football field. He might the most hit and least fouled player I have ever seen. That said. If he’s not legit injured he should play every game. Load management might be the one thing I hate most about todays NBA…. with guys passing up layups for contested 3s coming in a close 2nd.

My only problem is how did management to come to conclusion that resting at HOME games is good optics?

In this case just schedule a loss and rest JV and BI too. Resting Zion just creates a domino effect in which injury prone Brandon Ingram plays 37 mins. Utah is a weird team in which their "backups" are fully capable of winning games. Olynyk and Sexton will be traded at some point. Kessler usually starts for them and is a bad matchup for the Pelicans bigs.

I'm sure the decision to rest is not Zion's, but I'm ok with it in part. Why not dress him out and let him play in the 4th quarter if it looks like his presence may help.?

It makes more sense if you're not missing CJ and Trey

Hopefully this isn’t a thing anymore considering he played his first back to back this weekend.

The Pels started out injured as hell and trying to learn a new offensive system. They are 8-4 in the last 12 games despite having played more games than any other team with one of the hardest schedules in the league and their own fans are still finding reasons to tear them down
The team has great chemistry, the new offense is working now and they are 6-1 during this stretch against winning teams.

Despite not being #1 in the west like last season, I still feel like they're sitting pretty considering the brutal schedule. I feel like they can beat any team whenever they play their game and the roster is healthy.
