"But back home for the first time in four weeks, Brees regained his MVP-candidate form, completing 27 of 39 passes for 326 yards and a score. The winning drive was the 48th of Brees' career in either the fourth quarter or overtime, moving him into second place since 1970 behind only Peyton Manning, according to ESPN Stats & Information research."

Here's the list which is not updated yet. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/gwd_career.htm

1. Peyton Manning
2. Drew Brees
3. Dan Marino
4. Tom Brady
5. Brett Favre
6. Ben Roethlisberger

Great find MM! ?

I'm having so much fun posting after that thrilling win my cell phone battery is about dead lol. Night all and Merry Christmas!

He was actually not a very good 4th qtr comeback guy in his first few seasons with the Saints....which makes this even more impressive.

I know he had that Green Bay comeback in week 2 of '06.........but it was probably 2009 on forward when he really started getting good at that.

Good information, but remember that in order to have a late game-winning drive, you have to be behind. Good QBs on good teams are often well ahead in the 4th quarter, making it more difficult to accumulate these numbers. Just a thought.

Only needs 3 more to catch Manning. Add this to the list of records Brees will have before he retires.

I know but I wanted to highlight what place he is in. He just passed Dan Marino (he was tied). It can be re-merged, of course; but I felt that he is No. 2 got lost in all the merges. And should, IMO, cement his MVP ... or at least show the travesty that he's never won and that whoever allows Mahomes to win it, if he does, should be ashamed.
He's actually at 51 now. Marino had 47.

See, we need this clarified. Is that including playoffs? Because this sentence -- "The winning drive was the 48th of Brees' career in either the fourth quarter or overtime, moving him into second place since 1970 behind only Peyton Manning " -- is from an article just posted by Mike Triplette on ESPN tonight (http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25604629/drew-brees-leads-saints-steelers-no-1-playoff-seed-nfc) and they referenced it on tonight's "Final Play" broadcast. So I don't exactly know what the criteria is.

I know the 51 includes postseason. Maybe that's the difference.

Edit:

That is the difference.

Brees
Reg season: 48
Postseason: 3

Manning
Reg season: 54
Postseason: 2
