Right before the heat of the football season kicks off is a bummer. How long do you think subscribers will have to wait until a new deal is made?

I have Directv and ABC is on and I'm watching LSU, however, ESPN and all the other Disney channels are off.
Your local ABC affiliate will have their own contract with DTV.

They blacked out the (LSU game) feed on my D-TV app...but kept on my boxes.
Either way I will be placing a call to the customer retention line and at least getting myself the RZ channel tossed in now.

I don’t know why everyone is surprised.
They save these negations specifically for football season because that’s the only time Direct TV or Disney has any leverage.

Seems that ABC, ESPN *and* SECNetwork are affected.

Excerpt from https://www.directv.com/tvpromise/ (once you type in your location information) (I bolded the section about SEC and ACC games):

"We’re excited to see the start of the new college and NFL football seasons too. If you’re concerned about possibly missing one of your favorite teams in the next few weeks, here’s the good news. FOX, CBS, NBC, and Amazon Prime Video televise most of the NFL action, while ESPN/ABC has one game per week. Chances are your favorite team won’t play Monday night until later in the season after we’ve had plenty of time to come to a new agreement.

Big Ten schools play nearly every game on your local FOX, CBS, and NBC stations, as well as Big Ten Network – all of which remain available on DIRECTV satellite, streaming, and U-verse. Big 12 teams will often play on FOX, FS1 or other available channels. Members of the ACC and SEC play most games on Disney-owned channels, as well as CW (ACC), so click here to check where to find your favorite NFL or college team(s).

ABC’s primetime series won’t begin to return with original episodes until the week of Sept. 17, so we’re pursuing every avenue to get your programming back as soon as possible.

More ways to watch

There are often several ways to continue to watch any favorite Disney-owned programming, including:

  • For fans looking for the LSU vs USC game in Las Vegas, NV: ESPN typically makes games available at ESPN.com and to fans using the ESPN app. Please check online for availability in your area.
  • Disney typically makes its content available at network websites and apps, like ABC.com, ESPN.com, nationalgeographic.com, DisneyNow.com, or the WatchABC, ESPN, National Geographic, or DisneyNow apps.
  • Disney-owned local broadcast stations typically stream newscasts and other programming at the station websites and apps.
  • Check online for availability in your area."

I'm old enough to remember when I had no idea what cable TV was. God it was so exciting when I could get hundres of channels .... and pay for it. I now long for the time when the biggest problem was getting the antenna in the right spot so I could watch televsion .... for free. Mo channels, mo problems.

My Jr year in HS we moved into a neighborhood that had cable - FINALLY
My college town had cable fine, then I move to NYC ..,NO CABLE?!?!
How is Hattiesburg, MS going to have broader/better media options than one of the media capitols of the world?!?
It made no sense

I purchased a UFC PPV about 9 months ago and bought the ESPN+ bundle which gave me the PPV and ESPN+ for the year. Sunday night my Directv Stream lost it's Disney family of channels, but it worked on the app. Not today! So I paid for a premium app that I can't use. I texted customer service to clarify, but have not received a reply yet as they said they were connecting me with a customer service rep more than an hour ago. Reason #48,783 to dislike Bob Iger.

I swear they cut off ABC last year too before football season. I don't know how DTV users do it. It's gotta get old watching billionaire companies do a stand off every year before football season at the expense of viewers. With how popular streaming and cord cutting is now, I'm still shocked DTV is a thing tbh
