Im on my phone so i cant listen. But its on shortly. Hopefully we can get a recap from somebody here. Here is the link. It is starting shortly PFT Live: Eagles talk with Howard Eskin and Saints talk with Mike Triplett | ProFootballTalk
Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune will also join Mike Florio for some discussion of the Saints. While the appeals and grievances of suspensions to linebacker Jonathan Vilma and defensive end Will Smith are still up in the air, the team is at work on the field so we’ll find out what Triplett thinks about some of the on-field issues the Saints are tackling right now.

You can watch it all live at noon ET.

Duncan used to do these Saints updates on Florio's show, but I don't think he's been back on since he used Twitter to backtrack on comments he made on the show and the PFT Twitter account pointed out that he absolutely said what he was being accused of saying.

Interesting bit from Howard Eskins (Eagles reporter) about Reid siding with Goodell on the suspensions:
- Andy Reid doesn't talk negative about anyone in the league.
- Reid and Goodell have a "tremendous" relationship, and it probably got stronger at the beginning of Vick's time with the Eagles.
- Reid and Goodell talked extensively in Dallas at the Super Bowl.
- Eskins calls it a "joke" to compare what Cris Carter did to the situation in New Orleans.
- Says "I don't know why Andy Reid wouldn't agree with Roger Goodell."

If he were more relevant, I'd say we should add him to that "Saints blacklist" thread.

anyone have any good suggestions to replace duncan's name, so we don't have to type it? He's relinquished the right to be referred to by his Christian name

Tripplett is Mr. Status Quo - he doesn't bring anything to the table.

Talking about Brees and why he hasn't been signed yet. Jul 16 deadline mentioned and that both sides basically know what the other is offering and don't want to blink. Are the Saints using the fact that he organized OTAs last year against him, thinking he will want to accept whatever they offer because he wants to get in? Big question: will they play hardball with Brees before the deadline? Tripp doesn't think so...

Tripp defends Saints' by saying there is no on the field correlation to misconduct. Punishment is for the "spoken word" not what happens on the field. Despite GW's speech, no penalties in the SF game.

Tripp is killing it right now. One of the best interviews I have heard in regards to giving our perspective to the national media.

Is the disconnect between the rhetoric (bounty talk, GW speech, "pay to injure") and the results on the field part of the reason that locally they feel the Saints got a raw deal?

Tripp: Absolutely. Many players have said these systems happen, and the Saints get punished and nobody else does but the amount of punishment and indignation does not match what has been seen on the field -- punished for the spoken word, not the clenched fist. There is a difference between language in meeting room and what is seen on field.

Triplett recap:
Drew update:
- Doesn't look like Drew will be there for OTAs.
- Both sides know what they want, and neither side feels necessary to move off of their position until there's a deadline.
- Thinks it'll be killing Drew to not be their for OTAs, considering he organized OTAs for the team last year during the lockout.
- Thinks ultimately Brees would choose to play under the franchise tag, rather than not play at all.
- At some point the Saints will make Brees the highest paid player in NFL history.
- Thinks Saints will bring in another quarterback to help get them through the reps of OTAs.

Bounties
- Legislature passed resolution to gain support from voters. Doesn't think it'll amount to anything.
- With the players bringing in lawyers and the NFLPA, we're finally starting to see some real fight back against the NFL.
- The coaches weren't happy about their suspensions, but didn't really have the means to fight back like the players do.
- There's no evidence that anything happened on the field to put players in harms way, the way they've been accused.
- The fans feel like the Saints been picked on for this by the NFL, with players coming out from other teams and admitting to things happening elsewhere. Saints deserved some punishment, but not the scale that has been dished out.
- Gregg Williams words before San Francisco were chilling, but then on the field the Saints did not do anything to go after Crabtree or other 49er players.
- We don't know the details of Gregg Williams testimony to the league. Believes the NFL "misinterpreted" Williams testimony the same way they misinterpreted the Hargrove statement.
- Believes the NFL does have evidence on pay for performance. Thinks the trouble the Saints are in is because their pay for performance included the "knockouts and cartoffs" for legal hits.
- Believes the only example of a specific bounty is before the Cardinals/Vikings playoff games.

Saints chance
- Believes the Saints still have a chance to go deep in the playoffs and win the Super Bowl, despite the penalties handed down. No reason they can't be as competitive as the other Saints teams. Defense could be better, despite the suspensions. Paints them as the front runners in the NFC South.
