I am certainly no doctor but my experience has shown me that "tightness" in the back is not usually just a muscle issue. My guess is that when one has a back issue it may be a spinal issue. Spinal issues manifest themselves by muscle spasms. I hope I’m wrong and someone more knowledgeable than me can lend some clarification. Can his problems have come from "soft tissue" origins and not from a spinal/disc place?

Would have to know if this was an issue in college,

Another player is missing time with back tightness

Could this be field related ? Indoor facilities and the dome

Or a catch-all term

These guys have world class medical care. Unless he has a degenerative condition, then he likely needs an adjustment, some muscle work and some anti inflammatories. All of those things he’s likely gotten over the last few days.

You’re right. You’re certainly no doctor.

Just had my second lumbar discectomy surgery a month ago. Spinal and disc issues are something completely different from muscle spasms which can easily be treated with muscle relaxers which take a couple of days to work. Spinal stuff is nerve related not muscle related.
I sure hope his issue is spasms and not disc/nerve related.

I did not think this inquiry would result in the posted responses. My point is that purely muscle issues should be easily treated. I am soliciting better opinions than my own. I have no dog in the hunt. As a fan, I hope the guy has some cramps or mere spasms that are not serious. Being kept out of practice for a week may lead one to think it is more that just muscle issues. sorry if i offended anyone.
