G/C Kyle Hergel signed to active roster; 2 players elevated, Miller ruled Out vs KC (1 Viewer)

That and the move to place Lemieux on IR today could be to free up a roster spot for Adams tomorrow.

It could be for Kendre Miller.
Hergel takes Lemieux’s roster spot. Roster is at full 53 capacity. Saints will have to make additional roster moves to make room for Miller and potentially Adams.

There could be two more IR moves coming with 2 recent DNP/Out players. Or possibly one IR move and a release (waive) at the bottom of the WR depth chart.

Yeppers.
I missed that Hergel was signed to the Active 53-man Roster as opposed to just being Elevated for tonights game.

With his signing it's likely that he will remain on the Active 53-man Roster for more than just one game, probably at least the 4 minimum that Lemieux will miss.

Good catch. Agree on the other possible IR moves. If Big Toe Turner has lingering issues he will be high on the list. I'm surprised that Gay wasn't placed on IR before tonights game having undergone hand surgery this past week.

A guy who didn’t practice all year was not going to be active after three days at practice with a totally new scheme.

This doesn’t mean much one way or the other. Next week, if he’s not active, then maybe it says something.

He didn't physically practice during training camp, pre-season or the first 4 weeks of the regular season.

However, he didn't just arrive from Siberia.

He was here and physically practiced in OTAs and Mini Camp. He had three practices in which he participated over the past several days.

He's had a playbook in his hands for about 8 months now. He's had plenty of time to study, observe, watch film, and ask questions.

Simply put, he must not be a 100% as of right now. Disappointing, but better to hold him out another week instead of taking a chance of getting reinjured.

There's also the possibility the Saints didn't want to cut and expose another player or put someone on IR yet in order to activate Miller.

Hopefully he's a full go with fresh legs Sunday against the Bucs. The Saints play 3 games in 10 days. They may not need him tonight, but they will the next 2 games.

Through 4 games this season the Saints have run the ball 138 times. They are averaging 34.5 rushes per game. Kamara is averaging 20 rushing attempts per game.

If the offense stays on pace with 34 plus rushes and Kamara totes the rock 20 times, where will the other 14 plus rushes come from?

Williams nor Sims are good for 10 plus. It will have to be a shared approach.

I can see Williams getting 8 and Sims getting 4 with the other 2 coming from WRs.

Unless the Saints put an even bigger load on Kamara.

Thoughts?

There are guys ahead of him. He has to actually get the scheme down and show something before he gets activated. That will take more than three days.
