I certainly think there's more. I certainly do. Meanwhile, Pete Rose is watching from a distance...

I am sure there probably is more to the whole thing...
Just a matter what someone can dig up and what can be proved?
The league is not going to go out of their way to find anything, he's the biggest star in the game.

This paragraph is why it's questionable.
Ohtani's camp initially said Ohtani transferred the funds to cover Mizuhara's debt and presented Mizuhara for an interview with ESPN on Tuesday night, during which he laid out the process in detail. The following day, a statement from Berk Brettler LLP, the law firm representing Ohtani in the matter, instead said the two-way star "has been the victim of massive theft." Mizuhara then told ESPN that Ohtani had no knowledge of his debt and that Ohtani had not transferred the money.
These contradictions could be the result of PR people jumping the gun and running their mouth trying to play CYA rather than making sure they have their facts straight before making statements.

If that's the case, then they certainly did a terrible job because their changing story line is going to make the majority of people suspect a cover-up even if there isn't one. The Dodgers (or Ohtani's camp, whatever that means) may fire the lot of them.

This is what happens you have employees act or behave impuslively or rash in trying to construct a more believable, reasonable-sounding cover-up/excuse. I don't suspect that Ohtani was gambling here (although that could be wrong and is subject to change if more revealing information comes out), this sordid story sounds more like a gambling addict who allowed his addictions to take over his life, he related this issue to his boss or Ohtani found out on his own, tried to cover for him and give him a second chance by paying his debts, and his original interpreter just relapsed again.

This story seems very reminiscent of the Jacksonville Jaguars CFO being caught for embezzling and stealing team funds to cover his years-long gambling debts late last summer or fall.

I don't think Ohtani is completely innocent. Its his interrupter, you would think he knows whats going on with him and his money. This changing stories sure does put up a huge red flag

Seems like Ohtani didn't know that paying off the illegal debts was illegal, which is plausible... and could be the reason the story changed. Would be completely moronic to be directly involved in gambling when you are destined to make around 1 billion dollars playing baseball.

Was that intentional?

No, what did I do?
Interrupter and interpreter -- which is the word you meant to use -- are different words. I like to prounounce interpreter as interrupter though cos in my head it's funny. I wondered if you were doing the same.
