Seems today was exactly what a lot of the naysayers on the board wanted: a loss.

And yet those same people are all over the board griping about "no talent," "fire Loomis," "Rizzi must go," "Rattler is no good," "Kubiak has no imagination," etc.

Whatever, run your mouths.

IMHO, Rattler looked quite good today, but his receivers let him down about half of his passes. That made up "offensive pass interference" call near the end didn't help, either. The officials were very flag happy today, but it didn't cost the Saints the game. Poor interior offensive line play and dropped passes hamstrung Rattler and the offensive play calls. Kubiak actually called several clever plays, most of which were negated by penalties or dropped balls. A couple of them were read by the Raiduhs and blown up, but were still imaginative play calls. Mostly it was poor execution by the O-line and WRs rather than bad play calling.

The defense started well, but the coverage was poor from the second quarter on, especially on Bowers, who was left uncovered (or not nearly closely enough covered) for the majority of the game. I don't know if that was bad scheme or missed assignments. The defensive line looked pretty good, though I fully realize the Raiduhs' O-line is not great.

At any rate, IMHO all those who have been calling for the Saints basically to tank and get better draft position need to shut their mouths complaining about how the team played when they wanted them to lose.

That is all.

The losses are taking place naturally due to the deficient talent the Saints are putting on the field. No need to tank. On offense the team bears little resemblance to the group that started the season.

It’s the defense that has been surprisingly bad. The constant 3-and—outs are hurting the defense, but it’s not just that.

I was gonna say this in a different thread, but yes, this was a tale of two Third Downs.

The Raiders seemed to convert one every drive. The Saints didn’t convert any until the game was out of reach.

In looking for good beyond the final results, that’s… not good.

I don’t believe in cheering for losses, no matter how bad the season is destined to be, especially at home. But it is what it is. This game didn’t show me much for the team to build on.

I think Rattler had really good moments today. Unfortunately for him he had no playmakers to work with. Foster isn’t bad , but he can’t be the #1 TE and top target. So Rattler is hamstrung a bit.

He still had moments of looking like a raw rookie but he also had defenders in his face as soon as he got the ball.

He’s still intriguing and there’s potential there. He’s done enough where you don’t give up on him and hope he can grow in the off season but he is not so good that it stops you from draftIng another QB

Some of us want the best pick we can get because we want the team to get better. So I'm not heartbroken by the loss. It has demonstrated that the team is even worse than we believed though. There isn't a player that played good NFL football today and that IS disappointing. It should have at least been close today and it was a terrible performance.
