"ATLANTA -- Michael Turner always heard how tense the rivalry between the Atlanta Falconsand New Orleans Saints truly was, but the former NFL running back never fully experienced it until 2008.

Turner, who spent his first four NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers, signed a free-agent deal with the Falcons in March 2008. He split his first two matchups with the Saints, then had to cope with being swept in '09, including a 26-23 loss at the Georgia Dome.

"The ugliest thing? The Saints doing their dances in the street after they won," Turner said. "My family seen it. Those Saints fans would go out in the streets and dance up Northside Drive. Even though I never saw it myself, I hated hearing about it."

In the same way the blues and jazz are the best types of music for their grassroots soulfulness, the Saints/Falcons rivalry is right there among the best in the NFL. Both franchise have surely "lived the blues" and not just "played" the blues in their existences. The Saints have lived it deeper, since success took longer to come here.

It never matters if one team is 8-0 undefeated and the other is 0-8 ... these games always come down to a FG at the end of the game

Actually after looking at the numbers 29 of 98 (29.6%) games have been a difference of 3 points or less. 41 of 98 (41.8%) have been 10+ points.
During the Payton era it's 7 out of 24 (29.2%) and 10 of 24 (41.7%)

Sooooooo no. :hihi:

I always say this. These two teams just put it all on the line.
I have to add that have seen my share of Falcons fans dancing in the Dome and it boils my blood.
